Need help choosing color for my car.

Since you guys on this board are like family, i need your help. Most of you know how i always change my mind about my car, what i want to do and so on. Well i sat down with myself and said self what do you want to do with your car. Considering that my car is 16 years old already and has a lot of squeeks and rattles, i was just thinking of buying a newer Z28 say 98-02. But then it hit me. I could jsut do the conversion with the LS1 and new trans (don't know if i want a 6 speed or auto), the engine swap is probably going to run me about $9,000. which really isn't a problem if i actually save for it. I have some already set aside for it also. Once the engine and trans go in the suspension is getting all redone also, so are every line and brakes are being upgraded. The zr1 taillight conversion is being done so is all new weather stripping. Now the important part. I will have a really fast nice custom car on my hands after all of this is done (hopefully most will be done by june of next year) i am needing a new paint job on my baby. After getting a new hood the SS hood The red is being thrown out so to speak, and i was thinking of going with electron blue that is on the new vettes or a really good looking silver metallic. And you guys know it won't be just that color . so i need ideas and thoughts for what to do. I want some kind of tribal flame design going most of the way back on my car. Oh yea while the car is being worked on i might just redo my wheel wells to make it bigger to fit the 17X11 inch rims in the back. black Zr1 rims or stock Z06 rims. can't decide which one yet. once that is done you know i have to get a second car. maybe a civic.:sillylol: I will be lookin for a 2nd 3rd gen or maybe a 6 cyl 4th gen to drive around as a daily driver. Let me know please what to do. help a brother out

I think you've got a great plan laid out... I certainly wish I had that kinda money to throw around at my car...

I vote for a black car, with redish ghost flames down the side...

Either that, or if you really want blue: metallic blue with silver flames ghosted on...

I  ghosted paint:

Yea i was thinking about the blue with the silver ghost flames. i wouldn't do the standard flames something different. and i really dont have the moeny to throw around in my car. But i am. $35 g's a year isnt enough for me i find a way to spend every penny.

Maybe I should add some real input: Millenium Yellow! With black ground effects and orange/yellowish ghost flames. Ha!

And if you don't like that idea... B L U E

strike one.

don't ruin this thread. chuck was simply asking for input on color selection of his car.

chuck, i'd probably go with a white or green finish.

i'm not big on custom paint, so i wouldn't go with ghost flames.

If you're seriously thinking about tribal flames, I would suggest you take a look at the sport truck scene. Those guys are years ahead of car enthusiasts when it comes to paint. Maybe because when you've only got a basic short-wheel-base two-wheel drive truck to work with, you have to get creative somewhere! Anyway, I regularly read Truckin' Magazine to get some ideas of what's hot in other areas. They have alot of trick ideas and color schemes for flames! As an aside, they are also a good source for new wheel designs (along with the Lowrider magazines). I saw a really cool black Escalade with flames done in the color-changing paint. At certain angles, it looked all black, but at other angles, the flames changed from green to red and so on. The sport truck people also do a really neat double flame feature, say with a red body, flames in shades of gray, and then another layer of red flames again over that. It looked great on one of their cover trucks last month. Anyway, it may be a good source for color and style ideas.

hey chuck. this is what my plans for a paint job on any other 3rd gen i get. but i hope to get a 91-92 z28 so that ill have alot of the gxf and spoiler out of the way. but heres what u could do since i doubt highly ill do any time in the future but for the paint job its goin to be a Peral white color or just very white, then put the haritage stripes on it but the color of the stripes would be Candle Apple blue. and i think that would be different and then go with 17's either chrome or polished alumin. thats what i was thinkig if i got another camaro. but hey i doubt it will happen that why im giving out the idea.

This was my idea i had mapped out for my thirdgen before i sold it....go with the Gungray Mettalic....Either that or i saw a really awesome color....its called NASA Metallic Blue...sort of the color they use on the blue vipers but a lil bit bluer or how about you go with both...sort of like a two tone deal...nasa blue body with the gun gray metallic paint on the hood gfx and spoiler....sounds wierd but i seen something done to that effect...its badass...and since your looking at the 4th gen SS hood id get the blue two toned on the scoupe sort of how the 4th gen ss's have the paint on the scoupe...with a nice LS1 decal on the scoupe....and if you really have the money get the 4th gen ram air hood with functional ram air and the stripes on the hood like the 4th gen 30th annys but instead of the bird have the lil chevy signs...badass...its all coming to in my head....keep the silver and blue two tone for that idea too...sorry gtg now all these ideas are overloading my mind

xeno = correct. black owns me.

Jay, that gunmetal color you were talking about is called Charcoal Gray in the GM line. My 84 has it; it's one of the best colors out there, IMO.
