Does Eau Claire have anything going on for gatherings? I'd take a ride up there.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

As far as strictly Third Gen, Camaro or Firebird specific I don't think so. We have a generic Thursday night car show kinda thing at the Burger King but i'm not sure when the next one is scheduled. It would be cool if we could find enough people do even just do a little parking lot meet.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Is that the one that they've been holding since the 80's at the Highland mall? Right in front of Tijuana Taxi Company (gone since early 2000's) on old 53?

There are, what, four or five people in EC? It would be a little over an hour drive for me to get up there. But, that's why I'm building this car... to drive it.

Not sure I haven't ever been to it. An hour or so is not too awful I guess we can see if any of the other guys in the area are interested.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Code 34 is a MAP sensor. Check the wires and or replace it. A bad MAP will cause all sorts of issues for idle.

I'm down for a get together. My car is no where near show quality, but it'd be fun to get a third gen club going.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Is anyone interested in getting a cruise organized to the ALMS Road America Races on Sunday August 11th? There will be a Camaro Car Corral sponsored by Chevrolet and of course the races... Tickets before 7/31 are $50 and that gets you in the gate, paddock access, and Camaro Car Corral access. I'm from Fond du Lac which is about 30 mins away from Elkhart Lake. Let me know if anyone is interested in cruising down and parking in the corral for a good time!

We were there both days. Always a great time & great races.
Thanks to Camaro Scotty for hosting the Camaro corral & for the gifts.

Kaotik: It was nice meeting you.
I believe you said it was your first time there. I didn't think of it at the time, but we could've showed you around a little & let you know where the good viewing spots are. It's a great track if you know where to go & when to be at which corner & how to get to the best spots easily, etc.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Just curious: does anyone go to the Dairy Queen cruise nights? My mother took her Firebird to them last spring and summer.

I believe the one on the south side of La Crosse is hosted by the Wiseguyz car club... or at least they're the ones who were giving out ice cream coupons to all the classic car owners/passengers

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Hey, 51 degrees today in Green Bay so I thought I's see if the IROC would fire up. Connected the battery, pumped the gas (L69 so it still has a carb) cranked for a while, pumped again and it started. Ran a little rough for a while but settled down to a nice rumble. Wasn't planning on moving it today but noticed that I had parked it with very little gas in the tank , so off to the local convience store to fuel up.
Spring might actually have arrived.

Yeah, it was a little warmer today. Went out to the garage to see if she would start up, and discovered this:

drove down to Chicago today, as soon as we got there we noticed how sunny and warm, so we took off the t tops and started heading back, as soon as we crossed back into Wisconsin we hit the overcast and it was cold again, but it felt like spring down there!

Thanks. I bought...the block and heads..

Building it. Don't know about CNC, but it's tough to find a machine shop that does decent work AND has reasonable prices.

Not sure really....maybe anywhere from 40-60 over on each from what I dynoed before with the blower....considering the main real changes in this setup are the heads, 1.6 rockers - and slightly bigger primary shorties....and no cat anymore....bigger carb...

-So hopefully around 450 HP and 550 TQ to the rear wheels.... maybe more, maybe less with the 5 pound pulley....but gotta finish putting it together and get it broke in first!!

Great. I'm thinking on putting a 383 in mine. The 5.7 i have is a really good motor, but I've went as far as i can go with bolt ons and a tuned chip. I would like to get 400rwhp, i think my tranny and rear will support that for a while. Could ya pm me when you get it done? I see we think like a couple of kids . LOL

Sure! In my case, a 50 year old kid at that...
I have a too long and painful thread on the whole mess here:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...-little-m.html

EDIT: A 383 is a great way to go! Plenty of torque and HP if you set it up with the right parts...cheaper than going with a 400 for sure.

Please tell me you're not talking about the 85 MPH/KM dual speedo….I hated mine..

I replaced it with a 140 MPH Z28 speedo and haven't looked back! Guess I'm doing it wrong…lol

I'm right in your area…I haven't seen yours yet! Nice to know there's another HO car rolling around!

I'd love to see it one of these days! There's a small local show every Friday at HWY 20 and Green Bay at the Hardees restaurant every Friday….maybe you can take her there?? I don't go every Friday, but at least every other...

Yayah! The dual speedo is what brings in the ladies.

About everything is still stock - including the worn tires/brakes/shocks that need to be replaced this year. I'll have to head up there sometime and deliver my hellos.

Any site info on the meetup anywhere?

About everything is still stock - including the worn tires/brakes/shocks that need to be replaced this year. I'll have to head up there sometime and deliver my hellos.

Any site info on the meetup anywhere?
Well then, I just might have a few things you'll be interested in....this is a small local show just getting started. I believe they give ya a free soda just for showing. No fancy website or anything.

People start showing up around 5ish and stay till whenever. One of my buds has a Caddy Hearse with nice wheels...can't miss him!! -his name is Chris...tell him I sent ya!

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

I'm going on the entire tour from N. Carolina to the Dells. Not sure if the Camaro is going or not….most likely the SRT since it has about every creature comfort for a long haul. I still might stop at my house along the way and bring the Z28 to the Dells for the last stretch...

X2 Would be a great time. Just hope it lands on a weekend that I'm free, summer is filling up fast!

Not doing the power Tour this year but thinking of doing the start of it next year (assuming that it starts where it ended the year prior like is normally does). We'll see where it goes and how far we want to go.

Probably do it with the 'bird though.

Re: Calling all WISCONSINITES

Anyone planning on going to road America this year? Especially the Tudor race on August 10th? There will be a camaro car corral. Awesome race and experience if you haven't been to this race before. Also awesome opportunity to get a bunch of Third gens together. I don't believe there is a firebird or Pontiac corral... Not to leave anyone out but there is tons of parking in the general area so it would be sweet to have the birds come too! Here is a link... Let's get something going!!!

http://www.roadamerica.com/buy-tickets/tudor-united-sportscar-championship.html

Click around for more details on car corral. It's a different package then just a regular admission ticket.

Reply with thoughts... We could also plan a cruise down to the race and roll together?

I have a SRT buddy that's organizing a meet also... Last year the SRT corral was insane. Let's step up the camaro showing!

We were there last weekend for the Pirelli World challenge / Trans-Am race & the Optima ultimate street car challenge. (skipped the Nascar day)
We are planning on going both days for the ALMS / TUDOR race.

Kaotik: I talked to you a little last year in the Camaro corral, I had the blue convertible.

Hey GMCTIM... I do remember you from last year. I would like to get there more often but schedule is always so full in the summer months. Bump for anyone else that would like to meet up or discuss the ALMS race coming up in August?
