All for sale posts revised

In an effort to clean up this board I am revising the for sale post policy. All for sale posts can continue to be posted on this board as normal, but will be redirected to the appropriate classified section. The post will be on this board for 3 days for local attention and permanently on the classified section. I would like to keep this board more for local events and for people who have questions or want to share there thirdgen needs.

What are your thoughts on this?????

Sounds ok to me, however my suggestion is that all for sale posts in classified forums be required to list state abbreviation or country/province because its so irritating to wade through tons of posts looking for something thats local. Abbreviations would alleviate that problem and also stop the need for people asking where the parts are located within the topic. Like when I am looking for an engine, which I really have, I was getting frustrated not being able to find those for sale local. I had to wade through ALL of the topics, and as you can imagine is very time consuming, not to mention it adds unecesarry load on the server. If I could have simply scanned the topic titles for states or area's local to me it would have saved tons of time and server resources. While this little savings on resources may be small, once multiplied by possibly hundreds of users, it could quickly become a burden.

I'm fairly new here so I really cant demand you to do anything, but you asked for opinion and thats mine. thanks

I do see your point, and it makes complete sense, but unfortunately I do not have to powers to make changes in the classifieds boards. What I can do if it is all right on the posts that I move I can edit the title to add the location. Or the poster can put that in there so if or when it gets moved it will at least tell you where it is located. I can do that if it makes it any easier. But my main point of doing this is to clean up this board and to also get your for sale posts more attention to the people who do not visit this board while still getting attention from this board.

That would at least be a start. Perhaps others in control of the classified board will take notice and like the idea and implement it.

Re: All for sale posts revised

Well now a decision has been made by the higher ups that all for sale/wanted ads will be moved to the proper classified section with a 5 day redirect. This is not up for discussion any longer.

Re: All for sale posts revised

I think for small parts that you can ship this is ok, but when selling an axle, trans, or other large parts that require freight shipping, it makes it more difficult. It would be nice if there was an exception for the large parts that you could list them directly to the local people that have a chance of being close enough to pick them up.

I understand for the larger items about wanting it to stay local, however the decision has been made by the admin's to move the posts to the classifieds section with a 5 day redirect.
