75/80 Drag Strip...

Opens on April 2nd -- anyone want to have a gathering or two out there this year? I wouldn't mind a couple of dates for TNT...

As long as my business has coverage and is taking care of itself, my goal is to make a few gatherings this year with f-bodyhideout and thirdgen.org -- I MISS YOU GUYS!

BTW - what ever happened to the Mid-Maryland Camaro Club that used to meet in Eldersburg at the Dairy Queen?

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

Toxic thought this was a good idea, so how about some dates? My best day is Sunday - I can usually get coverage for my studio, but can also work with Friday nights and Saturdays... I think Friday nights are TNT nights, but take a look at the schedule when you guys pick a final date -- I don't know that I'll hit the track, but then again I've been known to change my mind.

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

Sundays are best for me. Glad my input counts for somthing( lol, didn't think it would)

But what I am thinking is....

we all can meet up somewhere, (mabe in a park that is nice and not just a big open parking lot with tons of hot burning sun...)

Then we can

hang out wait for people to come
photo shoot
then cruise a cruise to 75/80.

race at 75/80( hmm mabe summit point?)

Now everyone chime in! let us hear your thoughts!!!

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

I would like to join the event. I just won't be in my 88 GTA yet. I have a lot of work to do just to get it road worthy. I spent many a night and weekend at 75/80 back in the late 70's to early 80's.

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

Wow, this is a slow board -- I remember when you'd post something about a meeting and you'd have two pages when you logged in the next day. What's up -- is everyone getting old or are we all just so poor we can't afford the gas to run our third gens?

I can't do Summit. The only reason I could meet at 75/80 is it's less than a half hour from my studio. That's how poor I am these days.

So...I was just looking at dates and it seems 75-80 is only open Fridays and Saturdays, no Sundays. I know I went there last season on Sundays - that was the only day I could go....so, looks like this ended before it started.

Any chance of a Friday night or Saturday late afternoon/evening gathering?

but my buddy is painting my car in a few weeks, so when everything is done and put back together i will definitely be down for meeting you guys and actually knowing who you all are on here lol,

if we get regular gatherings going on with this board i will put up signs in my neighborhood(its huge and has a ton of F-body's strung about) to get more people interested

oh man i have no idea, lol, im not very familiar with the area up here,

if it was down in southern Maryland where im from i could name a million places to meet(Bert's 50's diner, Rita's, and a bunch of places in Calvert county where people meet up)

but up here i really don't know where anywhere with a big parking lot with shade is lol

there is a park in my neighborhood, but its only got parking for about 20 cars if that, but its really nice with a pavilion,baseball/soccer/football field, basketball courts, and would make for a pretty nice photo shoot area

i can take some pics and post them here just to give you guys ideas of what it looks like

but idk how far my neighborhood is from everybody else

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

I apologize, I forgot about this thread...my bad. I can't meet in Beltsville - again, the only reason I could meet at 75/80 is because of how close it is to the studio.

Right now my third gen is back at the body shop getting another new coat of paint...not sure what it is (yet again!) as I haven't seen the color, just the sanded down and primed car that used to be custom purple metallic with a blue pearl clear coat...no telling what the b/f is doing this time.

I do have a major problem though -- I would like to get my new block put in the car. I bought a 383 stroker about two years ago. I can get the heads, manifold, lifters and bolt kit for $1,600 from Wheeler out of Florida (same place that made the engine) but I don't have enough knowledge to know what I can keep from the old engine or that I have to replace, nor do I have the money to pay someone to put it in the car...are there any car afficianados out there with an idea or two about how to get it done? A keg party? In trade for the 355 under the hood now? Birthday parties for their children and their children's children at my studio, lol!

wish i could help wth the motor, but i know nothing about 383's or motor swaps in general, will know more when i get the LT1 for the RS lol

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

when are you getting your camaro running again? I would like to actauly have a meet where is is a decent turn out. For some reason it people around here normaly bail or just don't want to come. If you take a look at the other reginal forums everyone has some great turn outs and some meets ever so often, why can't we also! common guys( and gals) lets do this! hopfully we can have more than 5 cars out .

Re: 75/80 Drag Strip...

My purple car will be ready in a couple weeks from the paint job, unless I can find someone to barter with me on getting the engine in the car. Then we'll wait until after it's in, then paint.

I still have the 4th gen I can bring to a gathering though -- the two other third gens are very sad these days and not drivable. Money, money, money - when I had it all my cars were top notch, now I have zero money and a business, I make sure the two I like the most are taken care of and the others will just have to wait a while.
