Finally Purchased a GTA!
So first off I would like to introduce my self (Raj) from Canada. After looking around for a few years I finally picked up an 89 GTA, 5.7, Auto, T-Tops, Black on Black with 118k km’s this spring. The car was in storage for over 10 years so needed quite a bit of attention to get started (new distributer, plugs, temperature sensors, tanks sending unit, fuel filter, fuel pump etc. etc.) and she finally fired up (thanks to Julian's Garage in Mississauga)!
So far, I have tackled the following myself:
· LS1 front brake upgrade (thanks to BBU)
· Replaced rear calipers (old ones were completely seized)
· Replaced most pulleys and refurbished the rest
· Replaced water pump
· Replaced power steering pump
· Replaced all 3 e-brake cables (still trying to figure out how to adjust properly as its only holds in neutral)
· Removed 20 year old window tint (was a pain in the A..)
· Headlight motor repair kit
· Installed a 8 inch touch screen stereo
· Installed keyless entry and trunk
· Did a complete digital dash conversion from an 88 donor dash and wiring harnesses – I will post a separate thread on this (thanks to Cehbra’s thread which gave me that extra push to tackle it!)
Still to do:
· Re-tint windows
· Paint correction
· Struts, shocks and springs – not sure which direction I want to go yet
· Steering components
· 18” rims – have narrowed down to a few options

Re: Finally Purchased a GTA!
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to TGO! Nice to see a fellow Oakville member. I work at MVL Leasing, you should bring the car by some day and take a tour around, I'd love to see it in person!
