Happy New Year always excited for new content on your GTA. Love the new aluminum button and immaculate leather wrap. I don't think I would try to polish it per - se, as I like the flat aluminum color, but maybe take it to a higher grit/scotch brite type belt (not sure if you have a belt sander) to blend and smooth the sanding lines. The ones I have for my 2x72 for knife making put an amazing matte blended finish on steel.
This could also probably be done by hand with varying scotch brite grits but may take longer obviously.
