Re: my 89 firebird

I use brake clean on a rag and it wipes right off. What i did before i sprayed the block, was wiped tire shine around the surfaces that would get over soray on them.

Now the brake clean wipes it right off with no problems. quick and easy.

The wire loom is getting replaced with new stuff so i didnt care about that.

Re: my 89 firebird

Headman shortys with their y pipe. got it from a member on here. Not yet. i had her outside running to make sure the thermostat opened as well as no leaks. everything was good then it started down pouring.

I think the timing needs to go up as well as the fuel pressure is a little doggish and the idle is a little low.

Re: my 89 firebird

Well she is finally on the road. took her for a ride and she wanted to overheat. Took her back the the garage let her cool down. Open up the cap let her heat up and seemed to be running good again.

She stay about 200 which i was told these cars usually run warm.

Also she is a little laggy. Im still tinkering with the fuel pressure and the cable for the tranny.

Im running the timing at about 10* but it seems like she wants more fuel.

Also did a 3 hour cleaning to the paint today will get pics up later.

Re: my 89 firebird

Lol. Belive me they where horrible.

Its the worst 1/8th mile track in the country.

Well ran 3 times.
First run - 11.8 R/T 1.9 ( yeah i know i slept at the light) Lol.
Second run - 11.4 R/T 1.1
Let the car rest and cool down.
Third run - 10.8 R/T .59 also was running in regular drive this time.

Remember stock tune and 2.73 rearend. Plus alot of tire spin.

i haven't worked on it in a couple months. i've had a lot going on. i got a trans for it and i just need the wire harness for it and the dipstick tube and it can go in. i've been putting my extra money towards the vacation that my g/f and i are taking in 2 weeks.

yours looks really nice. can't wait to have mine look just as good. i hope to have mine at lancaster next year to see what it runs.

Re: my 89 firebird

I basicly stripped and sanded all the rough, bad spots. scuffed the rims up. Added a coat of primer. Wet sanded, then a few coats of silver metalic rim paint. wet sanded between each coat. Then took a can of blue paint and a foam brush and brushed the blue on. took a fine paint brush and did the pontiac label. Then 3 coats of clear.

I also baked then in my small shed for a few hours at 100 degrees. made the paint hard as a rock. lol
