89 Iroc - First Timer

Always been a Camaro fan, just never found the one for me.

My 10 year old and I are embarking on a new journey of making his “first car”.

1989 Iroc Camaro
- Previous owner and dash said “146k miles” but carfax says the last registry was 15 years ago and it was 202k miles
- 5.0 Auto
- Dash is trash
- Body is super straight
- Paint is trash

We’ve had it a week and have ordered:
- radio
- dash
- antenna
- headlights
- all new bulbs
- rear hatch supports
- window motors
- taillight covers
- and a whole toolbox just for him

looking forward to this project with him

Re: 89 Iroc - First Timer

Looks like a good project to get started on. I recommend changing out all the fluids and doing all the usual tuneup and maintenance tasks.

Edit - I also recommend purchasing a factory service manual. Not a Haynes or Chilton, the two volume one that GM wrote.

tune up is a must, if you check the engine photo - you’ll notice 2 red plug wires and 6 black. That’s 2 8.5 wires and 6 8 wires. Something I didn’t notice til much too late 😂

Congratulations on your new purchase, and welcome too! Looks pretty solid from the pictures. Nice choice on the hardtop too!
