Picked this up in February, but just got the chance to take good pics and drive it this weekend. '92 Z-28 w/ LB9, T5, G92, original paint, and just 13k miles. Bought it still wearing the original ZR-50 tires (now sitting in the garage), original floormats (now sitting in the basement), and 99.9% original except for work I just did including: fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, brake/coolant flush, oil change, tune up, and Hawks 17" GTA wheels. Car is slow as anything but driving it takes me right back to high school in the late '90s which makes it all worth it

Good eye! Yes. Their asking price was "strong", to say the least, but in the end we worked out a fair deal.

My 92RS and 91 Z28 both had very similar over spray on the hood stops and both of them had factory paint. I think it's part of the factory paint process. I didn't like the paint on the hood stops so I removed them and cleaned the paint off, factory correct or not.

Looks great, esp. w/ the mesh wheels. Wonder if black or gray wheels would compliment the look better, or?

Funny thing is the overspray caught my eye as well when I first looked at the car, but I've seen several bone stock original cars with the same spray in the same pattern. In fact, if you look through the "Last 1992 Camaro" gallery you can barely make out that the under hood bumpers on that car do in-fact have red overspray in the exact same spot.

Re: New Member: 13k-mile '92 Z28

With regard to the overspray.... ....I had a fender bender in my 89, 20+ years ago back when it was still my DD. Upon inspection of the repairs, I noticed overspray on those hood stops. I asked the body guy and he said it wasn't from them. Sure, ok, whatever. I was young, who cares. But I've always remembered that, and I'll look for it now when I see an open hood, and sure enough "most" of the cars I see have that overspray. Now can I say that proves anything? Nope, not a bit, but I'm inclined to believe many of them came out of the factory that way.

Where's Scott? He'll know.....though he'll probably try to convince us it's wax residue!!!!!!!!!!!

Slow by today's standards maybe but you obviously didn't buy it for today's modern 650+ HP engines. Shouldn't feel discouraged regardless i mean your driving the best and most powerful 305 GM produced back then 230HP thanks to the L98 camshaft that bumped up performance and with 3.42 gears. That was the combo that could run with the fox body's back then since they had a huge weight advantage and what they ran in the players GM series in Canada.

could be...I can tell you that under my driver door panel.. there is a hand print/ smear in the factory paint. I found it when putting power to the window after I removed the battery and cables.and wanted the window down.. so they do get touched when wet...

Yup, Camaro is for the nostalgia. Z06 is for the fun

Thanks! Overspray is on the 2 round rubber bumpers under the hood on the core support. Dealer was asking $27.9k, but the final price we agreed on was nowhere close to that.

back in 91 when I picked up my 92. off the lot/order. was $24.000. then mid 92 LPE was another $24.000.. for the stage 5 383 upgrade..the OD reads under 40.000 miles today..even with 4.11 gears back then and the stock 3.42 speedo gears on/in the trans..

AWESOME car, and welcome to TGO! The G92, 5 speed is as good as it gets for the fun factor in a third gen! Very slow compared to your ZO6, but in its day, your Camaro was a beast, lol. I dig your wheel choice, too. I have a blue/gold 89 IROC.

Your Vette is killer, but I think you're going to be damn surprised how many "thumbs up" you get in your Z28.

Oh, and yes, that overspray on the hood bumpers is present on most third gens. The last 92 Z28 that you referenced is owned by a member, here, LeonardS. That car currently has 125 miles on it

Here's an under hood pic of my 29k mile 89 RS convertible. Same overspray on the hood bumpers..
