It has been a while since I last logged in. Just played your video, sounds great! I have a black 85 IROC, very original. I will be following for the finish. Looks and sounds great!!

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Some bugs got on the hood so they have to redo it, they have not painted the doors yet either, and they also need to do the racing stripes. So I would say it should only take a week to get it all reassembled. So I would say probably another year or so before their done. Since they are the slowest body shop ever!!

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Well actually i had most of it apart so they could paint the door jams. They said they proffered it that way. Either way i leave for training in may after graduation and i dont think ill get the car finished in time. My funds are dry and between needing tags and insurance, tires, and pay someone else to finish aligning the body parts perfectly i dont think i can finish the car in time.
It sucks i still havent even driven the car.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Your progress has been really helpful to me with my 88 build, even though I'm not going for a full interior, the pictures of that and the engine bay still helped! Good luck with the rest of your build, that red paint looks incredible!

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Thanks for the replies and good words everyone.
I had a good talk with the owner of the shop and he had no idea half the stuff that was going on with my car. I was previously speaking to only his shop manager and when i went there the other day demanding to have the car back. I had a great talk with the owner. He had no idea about the rain issue or anything else that was going wrong. He said he told everyone else at the shop they were no longer aloud to touch my car. He will be finishing it up himself from here on out. He also said he will get the car back together.
He said he should have the paint finished in the next two weeks and will keep me updated now. He really did seem remorseful and i believe him. Hopefully the car gets done soon.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Here's a list I made of what I was mad about.
Was told this would take 5-8 weeks tops (that was in August)
WHAT THEY HAVE LEFT:
-Put the car back together
-Black racing stripes
- buff the car
-Finish painting the car
WHAT THEY BROKE:
-Melted ac connector on header
-Added a crack to dash
-Sanded over nose emblem on front bumper
-Left car in rain, hood off, ttops off, hatch off. Left flooded for a week.
-Important stuff that got wet
Brand new speakers
Brand new Amp
Perfect interior.
Brand new Mass air flow sensor
All new engine components
Possible mold issues.
-Oil prints all over my seats
WHAT THEYRE TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR
-Reinstalling the exhaust that they knocked off when loading on a trailer.
-Mass air flow diagnostic. Code 32 was not for MAF they wasted theyre time.
And then this is what i saw going into the shop that lead me to demanding my car back
Im sure this didnt harm anything but I was pissed seeing my freshly pained hatch covered in tools and seeing my camaro once again being used as a shelf.

Yup the owner knows everything now and yea i think some compensation should be in order but all i want is my camaro painted right. Thats all that matters to me right now. I can fix anything they broke but i cant paint. As long as the paint job is done right and they try to fix up the destroyed interior and now worn looking engine bay ill be ok.

I'm sorry to hear about all this crap you have to put up with.
You do have everything that you have done to the car documented. It also sounds like you have all the documentation / communication from the body shop as well - along with the pictures you have - you have the basis for a legal case in my opinion for what ever its worth.
May have to go down that route to get things done. I bet you this shop is playing this same game with other customers vehicles as well.

Yaj- hopefully it doesnt come to having to go to court, but yes everything has been well documented.
Chris- its not patients its not having another option really.
I would love to post good news about the car hopefully within the next couple weeks.

Glad you got your car back. I was wondering what was going since you hadn't posted since you said you were taking the car back last month. Must not have worked out so smoothly I'm guessing.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
I showed up at the shop with five of my buddies and a tow truck driver. After getting the owner to move some cars out of the way the tow truck driver took her out of that hell hole. Which btw at the time my car was back outside getting rained on again. Once the car was out of there i demanded all the paperwork they had on my car plus extra copies of the contract. This freaked out the owner to the point of him shaking violently. He said, "i dont want to give you these, bc i feel like you might sue me."
While gathering up the rest of the car i went to go grab the hood and i was not really surprised when i saw the hood sitting outside next to one of those big metal storage containers. They had been opening the door into my hood which dented in the hood right on the front and had taken off much of the paint. I brought the owner over to this and of course he acted surprised. He said, "oh **** i didnt notice this." I said "thats weird ive been here five minutes and i noticed."
He was intimidated and scared of me suing so he said, if i give him two weeks he'll finish painting the doors, front bumper, and everything else. I agreed since he does do a very good job painting.
I started my internship at the State Attorney's Office and after mentioning this to him i think it gave him a little extra motivation.
Idk if i should have left the unfinished parts there but im very glad i took the rest of the car home.

Re: 1985 Iroc Complete build
Quite frankly. He desrves to get sued over this. I don't think I would have left anything there for him to do at this point, but that's my opinion and how I am from my own experiances with shaddy people. He thought he could just screw you around and get away with it, it appears.

Any updates? Were you able to get your car finished and back together? I've finally been able to tinker some more with mine and drive it a little bit.
