I'm just starting on my build on my '83. Plans are for a new interior, paint, either a supercharged 350 or a bolt on 5.3, looking at a TK0 5 speed or a T56 swap, and a build Moser or Strange rear. Love your build thread, it's cool to watch someone's progress

So can that tranny still be used or do you need one from a v8?

Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
Had basically 3 options sell it after just having a fresh rebuild then buying a fbody 4l60, have it taken apart and pay to have a new input shaft/drum/bellhousing put in, or run a lt1 converter and a $40 crank spacer I'm going with the 3rd option already have a 2500 stall converter and ordered the spacer from circled
On to somewhat better news got my ecu back from my tuner after finding out it was for a 01 silverado had him flash a fbody tune on my fuel pump now primes so basically need my spacer and headers and should be able to start it

Been a long time coming between finding everything I need having a kid deciding to do something then wind up not liking it and changing it over thinking other things still cant legally drive it since I have no windshield or header panel for the headlights but that's just little stuff at this point

Yea it did..... literally all I needed was the correct extension housing for the trans so I could keep the torque arm in place then i could finally drive it for the first time well motor decided to drop the oil pickup tube and seize the motor f****** great already have old motor out tore everything I put on it off and buying a new motor hopefully in time for the i29 drag event next month

Well since I have the motor out figured id notch the kmember for the ac compressor pulled the old motor apart main bearings spun and being that its a stock 5.3 just going to scrap it and find a viable 5.3 or 6.0 once I do that ill be able to drive it for the first time since I finally found an extension housing for the trans

Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
been working away on getting all the other odds an ends so when i get the motor i can drive it got my tail housing finally and got it swapped out, still working on notching the kmember for a/c kinda been dragging on doing much as ive been working alot. Stumbled upon a nice mod for my gauge cluster which is nice and much cheaper than going through 6le for which is colored gauge needles found a vehicle that has compatible needles for ls1 clusters pulled em off painted them translucent blue pretty happy how they turned out pics dont do it justice
Also hears the gauge overlay ive been working on keeping it true to the cars origin lol, need to send it to 6le and have it made biggest reason I need one made is since the car doesnt have airbags or abs the lights are continuously on so ill have them make the overlay without them.
Also I have about 6 sets of these needles so if anyone is interested pm me I can do them in any color or leave them clear for a white needle

Cars headed to the exhaust shop beginning of next month also finally got it all put back together been buying a few odds and ends for it since she's running perfectly figured I'd change a few things that have been bothering me one of those being the blue gauge needles factory lighting just isn't sufficient a call to superbrightleds got me what I needed half way done with it now also seeing as how nothing is stockfish inside the car the a/c ***** just don't blend in already ordered the replacements they'll need customized but hell shouldn't be to far out ta my skill level anyways on to pics!!!!

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!
Not to steal his thunder but my seats are out of a 4th gen. They were a direct fit. They were out of a 95 camaro and are cloth seats. The holes for the brackets are exactly the same and the brackets I believe are exactly the same. I just cleaned the seats I got and bolted them right in.
Oops I didn't realize that was years ago you asked that. Sorry man, my phone said it was the last page but turns out it wasn't.

Great build man. I actually just started reading about people swapping in that gauge cluster. I went with the intellitronix blue digital gauge cluster but I think yours looks awesome too. It sounds really amazing too.

Re: My new $300 86 Iroc-z28
Seem to be having a bad streak of luck not only with the issue of the hood flying up and destroying a new fender noticed my brand new windshield is also cracked in the pass corner as if that's not bad enough I have a weird noise what sounds like converter bolts loose pulled starter and looked through inspection hole there tight then there's the issue of my o2 sensors drivers side was reading .1 voltage at .8 fuel trim while pass side read 1.1 volts and -43.8 fuel trim almost at my wits end and ready to give up its two steps forward and let's see 5 steps back........ What to do now.....
