Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

ok so i figured id finaly make a build thread for my 2 third gens, anyway heres their stories.

About a year and a half ago me and my bro purchaces camaros, i bought a 1985 IROC z28 and he got a 1991 RS both t tops. after driving 96 miles a day round trip for college the iroc was slowly wearing it self down, wasnt running right, couldnt barely afford gas let alone keep up on maintance, the interior was destroyed when i bought it and still was, needed a tune up bad and a maf sensor, struts and shocks wer shot, tires wer nearly bald and the rear was wining and banging now, so me and my bro talked and we traded, for another six months i drove the RS as he put the work into the iroc that it needed, the trans gave up in the rs and i sold it (still in college and broke).

last December we traded the IROC for for a 1988 Toyota Supra GT 7mgt inline 6 turbo (not my idea was against it) well it blew up on the way home, we parted it out and made our money back and he went on to buy a 1991 GMC Typhoon, now im stuck driving my pos s10, wen on the way to college we found our old iroc sitting on the side of the road with a big puddle of oil and antifreeze under the car, no tags, no radio, no seats, keys in ignition.

So i called the kid up, he blew it up racing it and left it for dead, so i towed it home and got the title back from him

AS OF RIGHT NOW im finaly out of college and working full time, the IROC has received all new interior (minus dash pad and steering wheel), new tires all way around, brakes and wheel bearing, all new pioneer sound system

im about to start pulling the 305 out, i have 2 different 350s, ones a striped down 1991 G20 van block the other is a 4 bolt from a 82 suburban, i have world product torquer 2 67cc heads and a comp cam and lifters and all sorts of goodies, just need to send out the blocks to get checked and honed

the 87 sport coupe i just bought last week for $300, body is rust free with a lil surface rust over the rear wheels, interior is decent too, its a 2.8 auto, i have a 3.1 with 87k miles im puttin in it next week to be me daily driver

Your 87S/C looks like a 86 because of the third brake light on the rear hatch.Great buy!I got a 86 bird out here with the stock setup on it.

Re: Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

The blue car looks amazing. Always been a fan of blue chevys... and glad that the IROC I ended up with was blue and repainting it blue.

Look forward to more pics of your two projects.

Re: Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

yea lil blue (what we called the blue 90 rs) was really nice, the pics dont do her justice, sadly the 3.1 was very tired and trans was goin, on top of the teh drivers floor pan was rottitng HORRIBLY bad because the t tops hav been leaking LONG LONG LONG time before i owned it

the IROC is going to mimic the 90 rs, i plan on painting it the same blue or original red

but first i must get the Sport coupe running, its suposed to be my daily driver,

ill toss a bunch of pics of the bumper installs tomorow and some pics of the iroc

i should have the 350 for the iroc by mid august, i plan on having the iroc done and driving by holloween, but not painted, ill get it painted next spring... good paint jobs are NOT cheap lol

Re: Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

and no im not a fan of clones, but for what i paid for the sport coupe, and how GREAT of shape shes in (minus the botom end knock) i couldnt pass it up, and im going ti shave the RS/Z28 badges off the skirts and rear bumper when i get them, i wana see about gettin Custom badges made that say Sport Coupe or something instead, would make it kinda unique

An 87 car without a rear spoiler, like yours, would have still had a hatch mounted third brake light.

Your car is looking good man. My '84 also started it's life as a sports coupe. Now it has all the gfx, bumpers, and rear spoiler from a '91Z. It's currently getting painted. Keep the pics coming. It's looking nice. You could sell your sc front end and get some money for other parts.

Yellow lettering on the door leads me to think it came from a yard. Which means the hatch could have as well.

Re: Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

no the hatch is original, lik said before spoilerless 87s also got the 86 style 3rd brake light, and yes the door is from a junk yard, was replaced 5-6 years ago off a 86 the same color, so im told. but then it got backed into again so its waffled in the front and the fender isnt original either and its also warped

I WISH IT WAS T TOPS GRRRR! (but thats why i have my iroc too )

Re: Tylers Project thread (pic heavy)

not much progress on the z28, just aquiring parts and suchs and finishing the interior

however i may end up with a 91 z28 t top, so now ill have 2 z28s that is hopefully, keeping my fingers crossed
