My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

Well after traveling a hour north and being disapointed by a 1992 Camaro Z28 I looked at, I ended up finding this beauty on the way home. Its a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z flame red with Carmine red interior. 305 TPI with a 700r4 auto. Hardtop. She is starting to rot in the normal spots but she isn't to bad. Its weird though my GTA is a 1987 and is flame red and has carmine red interior. But this will be another car I will fix up after the GTA is done. Believe it or not the car actually has 91,000 miles. Hasn't rolled over yet. It has the dual cat option with the optional gears and posi trac rear end. I think that RPO was G92 which it has. Let me know what you guys think!!

Re: My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

Well since my GTA is getting an LS engine its probably getting a 350 TPI. Basically restoring it with some more power. I have headers and a cam already so it should be a good build

Re: My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

Looks like a great score for the money.

BTW, if it has dual cats, someone put them on. That option wasn't available until the last half of '89.

DD9 I would love to find one just like that at that price! Man you are lucky!
I like the flame red but never liked red interior. I like the flame paint with beachwood the best! But it is sweet, I want another Iroc

Re: My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

The way I found it was weird, I personally think it was ment to be mine. The guy I got it from is so funny he said he is a ford guy but loves the iroc body style. He has 2 other irocs he has a mint black iroc with grey leather and a parts car that he is taking the front clip off of for his black one. He has a Z28 Convertible all original. He even has a plymouth Prowler LOL. Just keep looking you will find the right IROC when you least expect it !

Radiator is out! found my potential problem as far as the leak goes. Still questioning the pressure build up. Anyone have a diagram or picture of the hose routings? So many on mine are bypassed and I would like to redo them all the right way especially the engine oil cooler

Re: My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

I haven't said much about it lately so how about an update! I fixed a backfire problem in the intake today. It needs spark plugs bad because it has originals in it. I took one out and the thread broke and was still in the head. I got an easy out to get it out and stuck a new one in it for the moment. Now I finished doing the bypass of the emissions system that the previous owners started. Now no coolant passes through the throttle body and warms it up. I have a problem now, the fans were wired up to run nonstop even when its not in run posistion(thanks previous owner lol)and now they don't even turn on. Plus they did the good old hackjob on the fuel pump and its taking a crap.
But anyways heres some pictures!

Re: My new 1987 Camaro IROC-Z

How about some updates! It's slowly but surely coming along, my dad wants to use it as a daily driver. We finished the half a**ed emissions removel and cleaned/put new gaskets in the throttle body. The radiator drain was my leakage problem. I also found out why the previous owner didnt replace the plugs, it was because the original ones are stuck in it. I actually broke one and the threads were still in the head! I made a custom tool to get those out lol. I replaced the IAC valve and it no longer backfires in the intake. Next it needs some exhaust work and a fuel pump put in correctly since they spliced the sending unit. A exciting update is that I bought a 1987 iroc parts car with all power options fully loaded that comes with 2 interiors.
