This is my 85 Iroc that my dad gave me when I was 16. It pretty much just set until I was 19. They wouldn't let me drive it too often and I was to busy racing dirt bikes. Now that I've become more interested in the car it has changed dramaticly over the last 3 years.

It sports a 327 with a .488/.510 lift cam, weind intake, deamon carb, msd ignition, reworked heads, t5 with a hurst shifter, 4.11 gear, k sport lowering springs, founders panhard bar, and a set of torq thrust m wheels (that I found at a junk yard for $300).

Thanks, one of the next things I want to do to it is put a set of 4th gen seats in it. That is if I can find a set that I like.

Yeah I know haha, most of it is just dust and greasy hand prints. I've been having some tuing issues lately and have been working on it so thats why its kinda dirty. It will get cleaned in a few days.

some cheap projects for yourself would be to remove the door molding (unless this is your DD and you drive it at college everyday) or replace it with nicer molding maybe... and the other thing i noticed was your head light buckets could use a new coat of paint.

I vote keep your current one. I've only seen your interior pattern about 3 times, and it was in the junkyard for all three of them. Difficult to find...

Yesterday I bought a new distributor for the car, I bought a MSD street fire hei. I put it in today and the car runs ten times beter. Before it was hard to get the timing just right, it would change all the time. Now that I put the new one in it feels like the car gained about 30 Hp.

I feel like they ride pretty good. I drive a Sebring everyday with stock suspension and my camaro is smoother than my the sebring. I just have stock shock on it right now, and they are old haha. I'm pretty sure they are actually the stock ones haha but they still work.

A few weeks ago I bought a set of roller rockers for the car. I installed them today. They are stock 1.5 ratio. I also made a new heater box today. It's not to bad for my first attempt with fiberglass. I know the engine bay is still dirty, I haven't had time to get it cleaned up yet.

Welp last friday I took the car to the track and something terrible happened. I stretched a rod in my motor. So now I'm in the process of building a new motor. I haven't decided if I'm going to build the 327 again or maybe build a 383. I have decided to put my 700r4 back into the car, that way it will be easier to shift at the track.

Yeah it sucks, but the way I look at it is, it was just my car telling me it wants a rebuilt motor and more power.

Hahaha, Yes, They have a very unique way of communicating those kind of messages to us. I blew a motor in my car right in the middle smoking a friends mustang, I've since rebuilt it and destroyed him, but still can't live that down.

Welp I put my motor back together and put it and my 700r4 back in. I thought I had the 700 working right again but I guess not. It only has 1st and 4th and when you down shift it from 4th to 1st it locks up solid. I have a Transgo shift kit in it that made it a manual, and I had it up on jack stands to see if it was working right. If anyone knows anything that could fix it please let me know.

My tastes in upgrades a bit weird, but if I were you I would definitely get sub frame connectors asap. You can get headers for like 25 bucks at a meet. Together that's ~135. If the car has any electrical problems you could fix them and get an AGM battery.

From there you could get a hood (turbo iroc looks good imo) & paint for around a grand. Don't shoot me down here, but my friend has a second gen and went to maaco for one of the most expensive jobs (it was between 500 or 700) and it came out amazing - still does 2.5 years down the line
Your interior looks pretty sharp to me and you don't really need anything in there unless you want to. That's what I would do with a 1200-1500 dollar budget. (It's what I will do too!)

edit: Nice rims! Can't really tell what kind of brakes you have but you should paint the brake calipers if possible - when I see nice rims I always look at brakes. It sounds like a DD that you also use for the track? If you commute a lot I'd go for the 327 but if that isn't the case hook it up with a 383! Should be a very significant change

FINALLY!!!! I bought another 700r4 and I can now drive my car. My motor runs so much smoother now after the rebuild. I instaled a set of Rhoads lifters and they smoothed out my cam alot.

I had a cowl hood on the car but since I've lowered it I thought it looked better with the stock hood. I think before I get it painted I might buy a ZL1 style hood for it. It has 4 wheel disks on it with painted calipers. My plan for this winter is to maybe put a set of ls1 or corvette front brakes on it. It isn't a daily driver, I mostly use it to curze around or I drag race it. I would really like to autocross it, thats whey I want to put the bigger brakes on it.

What were you running in the 1/4 with the T5? Also, why swap back to Auto if you are looking to AutoX it?

Well the fast my car went with the T5 was a 9.02 in the 1/8, but that was right before my motor blew so it wasn't running right. When I race the car I mostly drag race it and I know that it will be faster with the auto. I'm not very good at speed shifting. If I autocross it, it will only be once or twice a year since the closest one is about 100 miles away. So I'm kinda building the car for mostly drag but I want it to handle and stop good too.

My rebuilt motor, it runs and sounds good. I put Rhodes lifters in it this time to try to make it a little more streetable. They tick alot but I can deal with it.

Welp Santa brought me some new go fast parts for the Camaro. I received a B&M shift kit and governor recalibration kit. I also got a set of Founders LCAs and some header wrap. So it looks like I've got a lot of work to do haha. I'm also putting an exhaust cutout on the car.

When we first got the car it had been setting in a garage and it didn't have a motor in it. We first built a 400 for it but we had some troubles with it. My dad had the parts to build the 327 so that was the next motor that we built. After it blew up last summer I thought about building a 383 but I figured I would just rebuild the motor I have and save my money.

I agree with Kazz, definitely make subframe connectors a priority if you start making good hp.

Otherwise the car looks good.

I was looking though the local craigslist adds the other day and I came across a set of World products Sportsman II heads for 250 dollars. I went and bought them this morning and they are in pretty good shape. They have the bigger valve spring which are too big for my cam so I'll have to change them.I figure they are worth 250 dollars for the set.

Welp a few weeks ago when I was spring break I put my new heads on the car. I also put a shift kit in the trans. The car lost a lot of bottom end with the bigger heads, but it picked up alot on the top end. I bought and rebuilt a 750 Holley and put it on. The local drag strip opens April 6th, you better believe I'll be there seeing what it will do. Hopefully I don't break it this time.

Well I never made it to the track like I was hoping. After I put my Sportsman II heads on the car it never really ran right. The last time that I drive it, it popped really hard through the exhaust. I ended up taking the intake off and I found a wiped lob on the cam. I'm tired of messing with the 327 so me and my dad built a 355 to put back in it. I put my sportsman II head, a new solid lift cam and my Weiand intake on the 355. I really hope that this motor lasts longer than the other. I think my car is jinxed, I know that this is at least the 4th motor that the car has had in it over the years. I'm pretty sure it likes to eat motors, haha.

It is a solid flat tappet Comp cam. The specs are .501/.510 lift and duration at .050 is 236/242. This cam has more lift but it is shorter duration than the cam that I had in the 327.

I went to a swap meet in Springfield Ohio yesterday, there was a few things there for my Iroc but nothing that I really needed. I did find a few new cars that I bought. My valve covers on my car hit the polylocks on the rocker arms so I bought some extra thick valve cover gaskets to give me some more clearance.
On another note, someone had a really clean TTA with less than 25000 miles on it for sale. I would have loved to have that car but I doubt I could have been able to afford it.

Over the last couple months my car has had a small miss around 3500 rpm. I thought that it may have been an electrical problem so I switched out the plug wires and regapped my plugs, this didn't solve my problem. So my next guess was fuel problem so I switch carbs off of my dads car and put on mine. When I did that the miss was gone. Come to find out the carb that I bought at a swap meet a few months ago was missing some parts in the secondary side and that was causing it to miss. I'm relieved I finally have it figured out and fixed.

Today I started putting a hydroboost system on my car. The system is off of a one ton Chevy truck. I had to make a mounting bracket and a new rod but I think it should work pretty good. I'll post pic after I get it installed.
