Re: Rags to Riches 1984 camaro build thread
And last but not least....where it sits for the winter. right next to the buick
Ok so specs on what this is now, its a 1984 camaro with a 355 vortec engine in it. It started off running the 1/4 in a 16.50 and now runs it at 12.97. I also put an eaton posi and 3.73 gear in the back but never took any pictures that day.
Let me know what you guys think!

Buick: Thanks! Also the buicks my dads, its a 1970 buick gs. Thought that might interest you!
Anyway, I know my profile used to say that i was 54, but thats actually my dad. I'm only 17, i just realized that that was messed up. So this all was done during the summer because i broke my leg sliding into second base, so i had alot of free time. And my dad helped some too....

Re: Rags to Riches 1984 camaro build thread
Thanks! And he has a stage one race motor that he ran 12.0's in but he took it out and put in the stock 455 as he was going to sell it, and would get more being original. But i think he's rethinking that route now.

Re: Rags to Riches 1984 camaro build thread
Looks great!!
I'm SO SO glad you kept the original ground FX in it. Seems everyone switches the 82-84 Z's over to 91-92 FX, so there's a lot of 91-92 Z28 clones out there. Which is making the older 82-84 styles much rarer to see.
My '83 HO was in simular shape as yours when I first got it...except the engine was locked up. But I only had surface rust under the ground FX - thankfully there were no holes anywhere, no bondo so overall thecar was solid. Great work!

Really nice! I'm trying to do something similar. I started with a roller, and put in a 355. In between trying to make it run, I've been doing some body work. I hope It comes out as good as yours!

Thanks! by the way youd be surprised how far a block sander goes. I wish i used it more because every where i did came out perfect. Good luck with your build though! Paint makes a big difference in the appeal of it,haha.

Re: Rags to Riches 1984 camaro build thread
Haha yea I know. I've worked in body shops. I have a lot of spots where the clear coat paint and primer are gone. I already did the deck lid. Then I'll do the roof, and fix a dent I have and I'll be all set.

Great job on that z. Like others have said, its really nice that you kept the original 82-84 gfx's on it. I have always been partial to them because you just dont see many of them anymore.
