Re: My '91 Z28
So I finally got my drivers side Recaro seat mounted yesterday. Ive been pretty busy lately so I havent had much time to spend in the shop. The adapters I made were fairly easy to make, I just had to make sure to do a lot of measuring. I did everything I could to make sure I didn't raise the seating position too much but it still raised the seat probably 1.5". It makes you end up having a more "level" seating position. I think I'm going to see if I can cut down the rear "legs" of the seat rails in an attempt to try and lower the rear of the seat. Even if I can't get it lower, I'm still very satisfied. The side bolsters hold you tight in the seat and provide excellent support around hard corners, to the point where you don't have to brace yourself at all from sliding around. They are 100x more comfortable than the stock seats too, the foam is of much higher quality. It actually does a really good job of dampening any bumps, giving the illusion of a smoother ride. I only have this one picture of the drivers side mounted. I'll get a picture of the adapters too so others can use it as a resource if needed.

I finally have the headers installed and I just dyno'd my car too. I'll make some more sound clips in the same fashion as the other ones, that way you can make a direct comparison.

The car dyno'd 215hp at the wheels. I was pleasantly surprised as its just a stock LB9.

Re: My '91 Z28
I guess I've been slacking on the updates. I recently installed some Koni yellows. They improved the suspension 100%. I love them.
I finally installed my Dyno Don headers and had a custom Y-pipe fabbed up. Better than stock ground clearance ;-)
Finished the install on the Recaro's
Finally installed my MOMO steering wheel and hub.
I also switched my headunit to a Kenwood

What brand Momo steering wheel is that & where did you get the hub adapter from? All you need is some sfc's & change your steering shaft to a astro unit. It made a huge difference in handling & steering. The car felt so much stiffer & more responsive.

Re: My '91 Z28
The steering wheel is a MOMO milenium. Although I'm starting the think that it's a replica because I've never been able to find another one that's black. Got the hub adapter (MOMO) from eBay.
I'll be doing SFC's sometime this summer. I've been debating on whether I should make some custom ones or buy them. And I've already switched out my stock steering shaft for one out of a Jeep Cherokee. I found that it was way easier than trying to find the correct Astro van shaft and then modifying it to fit. I had collected 3 Astro van shaft prior to using the Jeep one.
As for the smoked side markers and turn signals, they are made by Depot and I got those from eBay.

Tell me about it. I was amazed at the difference. I wish I would have done a before and after Dyno test. But I've been recording a consistent 3mpg average increase for city driving. To me, that's incredible.

Yea, i heard the jeep ones were easier to install. Im going that route with my formula. As for the steering wheel, I like that look over the grant ones. All you need is a push button start.....lol

Re: My '91 Z28
Thats great! Ha ha my fuel economy went down a little. I got on the gas a little harder after I got those parts put on. On the positive side I got a real increase in torque between 3000rpm-4000rpm. The car also pulled harder from 4500rpm on up to the 5500rpm redline, so that was a nice increase in top end power as well. With the high stall converter I got its a great set up.
You've got an LB9 with the G92 camshaft, 5-speed, 3.73 gears and dual cat style y-pipe. That is a good combination especially with a good driver.

Re: My '91 Z28
So I've come across a pretty decent deal on a set of C4 ZR1 wheels. I think I may jump on it. I've been looking for some different wheels for awhile now. I don't like how narrow these Y2K's are and I especially don't like the look of staggered diameter wheels. Of course these would be somewhat temporary because I'm eventually going to run drop spindles and larger brakes, in which case I would need an 18" wheel. But for the time being, what does everyone think?

Re: My '91 Z28
I test fitted them today. It turned out that the front wheels were actually '97 SS wheels. They were 17x9 +50 rather than 17x9.5 +50.
And while I was at it I test fitted the wheels from my GTI...
Lol, they look retarded on the Camaro with such a short tire. Although the fitment was spot on...
Then I threw on some GTA wheels for a TGO member...
Honestly, I was surprised at how much I actually like the GTA wheels.

Tell me about it. I couldn't stop laughing after I put those on. It goes to show you how important tire sizing is when trying to get a feel for how a wheel will look.
On a more serious note, I think I've decided to not get those ZR1 wheels. While I do like them, I prefer them with the black centers and I definitely want that extra 1/2". I've also made up my mind (more or less) on what wheels I really want to put on this car and they're pretty damn expensive. So I might as well start saving so maybe by this time next year I can order them.

I'm glad I found this thread. I have the exact same setup as you.
1991 Firebird LB9, T5, 3.73 gears. It's all stock, except I do have the Magnaflow cat-back to install.
I'm wanting to get new headers, but was afraid of how large Dyno Don's primaries are for my stock 305.
How did your car react to his headers?
Did you lose low end torque or did you have all positive gains across the board?
I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience with Dyno Don/LB9 combination.
Thank You!

Me too. I think if I ever get bored with it I'll paint the bowtie either silver or blue. But that will be when I upgrade my brakes so I can match the paint to the calipers.

Same here. But you're right, you don't even notice it in person because the top edge is hidden. While its not as tight as the OEM piece, it fits well enough for me to leave it alone.

That grill looks great! Its always nice to see a '91-'92 Z28 that is in good shape and has had tasteful mods done to it. The splitter you put on looks good to. Ha ha I just hope it dosen't scrape all over the place. Our cars a low enough stock let alone one that is lowered a little like yours.

Re: My '91 Z28
Since I've installed the smoked front turn signals and now this carbon fiber grill I feel like the fog lights look dirty/nasty and out of place. So I picked up some new ones. They are Pilot PL-1058M and I found them at my local Autozone. They measure 5"x1 7/8" so they are a little sleeker. They have a glass lense and a metal housing, come with a complete wiring harness, and also have city lights. I'll be installing these sometime within the week.
On top of that I finally just placed my order to Founders Performance for their 1" raised caster/camber plates and their Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets.

Man that car is SICK! That is my dream 3rd gen right there, except with a 6 speed and an LS swap. Personally I love the look of the wheels that came on it. You got a great deal too! Love the stance as well. You have very good taste! Keep the updates coming!

Re: My '91 Z28
Adjustable? In what way? They have enough adjustability so you can aim them properly.
Yes, they seem to be much better and brighter. Initially I liked the city light option but I now find it annoying. I have the power tapped into the stock fog light wiring so I just leave the supplied switch on and use my stock switch to turn them on and off. However, when you turn the fogs off then back on it cycles through to the next color for the city lights. it's not too huge of a deal but annoying nontheless. I'll post pictures soon.

like can you adjust them with them on the car or do you have to adjust them by mounting them differently? The stock fog lights have adjuster screws so you don't have to take the lights completely off.

They are quite a bit brighter, the supplied bulbs are actually pretty good. they no longer have a yellowish tint to them, they would probably match 4500K or 5000K HID's pretty well.
An LS build is in this cars future.
A fellow TGO member (mattmerrit89) made it. i got it for $200. I waited a couple months to receive it though.

Yes, verticle adjustment is made by loosening the two bolts that attach the light to the bracket. horrizontal adjustment can only be made if you enlongate the mounting holes.
They are smaller. I didn't like how large the OEM fog lights looks.
