My first Iroc and I couldnt be happier
I am fairly new to posting and so I figured this was a good time to show the 87 Iroc-z I just picked up a week ago. I have been wanting an Iroc for a long time and when this came up for sale I couldn't pass it up. The details are that is a 1987 Iroc-z with the 5.7liter, fully optioned, T-tops. It needs a bit of body work due to it just starting to rust on the fender and passenger door. The interior needs some minor work as well but not all that much. I couldn't be happier with this car. I don't really have a plan set out for it yet though, other than overhauling the suspension and freshening up the engine since it has 240k km on it. I am new to engine building and autobody so I am going to turn this project into a learning expirience and see what I can do based on the great info on this site. I will be asking a fair amount of questions once I get a plan figured out.

wow that IROC is clean, and you say theres rust on that. It looks awesome!!!, i would leave it the way it is except the rust situation haha. Good luck with it

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will get pics of the interior,engine and the passenger door rust up soon. I was quite surprised at how clean it was when I first saw it in person, the add didn't do it justice.
The passenger door is really the only spot on the car that has fairly decent rust spots but those are fairly isolated. I am hoping it wont take much to clean it up. I was looking around the interior today and noticed that someone had done a terrible job on setting up a sub or amp in the back well. They must have screwed right into the back plastic cover piece as it has a bunch of screw holes in it. So i may be looking into getting a replacement.

That's a really neat car because of the options and color combo. There must not have been many white/gold ones, even less that the black/gold ones. It seems most had the silver stripes/wheels.

Wow, thanks for all the kind words. I am really liking the white and gold colouring, seems to set it off quite nicely.
I haven't been able to post anything in a while due to being busy and yes I know it is odd that I haven't posted much yet been a part of this site for quite some time. Guess I figured I would learn as much as possible by reading the site before I could feel comfort in posting as lame as that sounds
.
Anyway, I finally had time to get some more photos taken. Got one of the engine bay as per requested a while back, and a couple of the interior which probably needs the most work to get it back into a like new condition but the pictures don't really show the problems that well.
I haven't been able to post anything in a while due to being busy and yes I know it is odd that I haven't posted much yet been a part of this site for quite some time. Guess I figured I would learn as much as possible by reading the site before I could feel comfort in posting as lame as that sounds

Your car looks like the one my son could have bought, but he wouldn't call the guy up!!
Did you buy the car in Langley or Maple Ridge for approx $3500.00, and was it on Craigslist that you seen it?
P.S. With a little bit of work, it will look brand new!!!

87IROC-DAN61 sounds like you are talking about my car alright. Got it in the maple ridge area after getting lost for about 20 minutes. I did find it on craigslist. I was actually quite surprised no one had picked it up yet for being fairly clean, when I went to look at it as the add was up for a bit. I clearly lucked out in getting it then. lol.

I knew it was the car as soon as I saw your pictures.........well as they say, "you snooze, you lose"!!!
My son bought a Blue 55,000 km, 5 speed, 305 TPI 1987 Z-28 in November of 2009 in Port Moody, only problem was the fuel pump was crapped out!! It had been sitting for 14 years!! Needs paint, but it's all there!!!
Same son looked at your car on Craigslist, but as I said, he wouldn't call the guy, and instead he got a Red 203,000 km, 4 speed auto, 305 TPI 1989 IROC-Z!!
The reason he bought another one is, he has a bad knee (snowboard accident) and couldn't use the clutch properly!!! So, an auto was needed!!
My other son now has the Blue Z-28!!
I really have the Heartbeat of America here, Red (1989 IROC-Z), White (1987 IROC-Z), and Blue (1987 Z-28)!!!
