Re: My IROC-Z Plan

Hmmm with an LSX and T56, you should get a nitrous gauge and vacuum? Trans temp would be pointless with a T56, and you're goin to want a wide band tune on the car so an A/F really wouldn't do any good either.

Seriously, get those wheels, I think 18's are perfect for our cars, as long as tire size isn't some 1" low profile tire,....I H8 that.

Interior looks great BTW. You should shave down or cut out a piece of your dash to set the iroc emlbem flush with the dash itself, kind of where the stock emblem went on the passenger side dash portion.

-Take care once again.
I made the mistake of moving. Actually, the moving part was good, the post move is not so good. I'll be back on that just as soon as I convince my girlfriend that having the carbon press in a 1 bedroom apartment is acceptable (shouldn't take too long).

Re: My IROC-Z Plan

I would seriously consider a mechanical oil pressure gauge for the pod. They are quick to accept pressure changes and are pretty accurate. I would actaully get both pressure and temp gauges as they are both a big deal to me. But other than that man, the car is absolutely amazing. I am happy to see someone do these cars justice. I wish i had the money and time to go through my car like that. But school and alot of bills have me saving up for a month just to get a new radiator. But good job, your 89 turned out incredible.

Re: My IROC-Z Plan

WOW i havn't updated this in a long time!! I got all but one pod filled on the pillar, i went with water and oil temp, and now i'm waiting on a wideband AF guage.

17" IROCs with tires are coming Tuesday, can't wait! When i get the irocs on i'll put on the clear side markers. And install my Dropzones, should look killer. Some tint would look even better on the windows!

Big news is my LSX + t-56 + moser build this winter. .030" over lq4 6.0L with flat tops, l92 heads, got to decide on intake yet. I might go 10:1 or a lil lower on compression, procharger would be kick ***.

I'll try and get pics tuesday when its all waxed up and new rims on.

Going from a 305 to an LSX should be quite the improvement there.

Yea i think going from ~200 with the lb9 to ~450 na/~550 fi should be a real eye opener lol. If you've seen me work on my car, you'll rest assured i won't scratch it wiht the motor swap.

Curious how your undercoating and the paint on your axle is holding up. What kind of prep work did you do and what materials did you use? Gonna put my camaro on jack stands this winter and go through the suspension and steering. Seeing the results of your undercarriage cleanup motivated me to maybe clean mine up too.

That undercoating is still on there with no flaking, and i don't see it flaking off in the future either. use a wire wheel on a angle grinder to get the dirt off before you coat it. I didn't have any rust to deal with so idk what you'd do if it's all rusty.

The axle looks amazing yet! seriously i wish my car was a foot off the ground so people could look at the undercarrige at shows lol.

The powdercoating will damn near last forever too.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but DAYUM, your car is gorgeous! I'm more of a Pontiac T/A guy, but your Z is very nice! Glad to see you got your 17's...now just get those Dropzone springs installed!

BTW...judging from your pics, I'm guessing you never got your Fuji camera?

those wheels look awesome, they'd look even better if you painted the strips on em like factory IMHO, it helps to break the wheel up a little.

Re: My IROC-Z Plan

Saying that there is a lot of wiring when it comes to a nitrous kit, ign. box, and nitrous controler is an understatement lol.

I ran the mallory wiring through the console into the engine bay, then all the relay trigger wires etc are going into the console since the switches will be under the ash tray lid. Not pictured is my Microedge wired up...that was another 8 wires haha.

Need to order purge, blowdown fitting, filter, wideband, and find a silicone cupler to go from the maf to the tb so i can get my nozzle in it.

Re: My IROC-Z Plan

Thanks for the comments guys!!!

Getting alot done now.

Done/Almost:
Nitrous, HSW's Microede is frickin sweet. Waiting on some silicone and al tubing to finalize my nozzle mount. Also got the purge and other msc crap taken care of.
AEM WB, mounted and wires ran just need to weld bung on someplace.
Rewired Pillar harness
Coolant, changed rad hoses and did the TB bypass mod, finally added my autometer sender for temp gauge.
Deleted cruise control and washer fluid, much cleaner look now.
Dropzone springs in the rear, front is a different story (comeing later)
Almost forgot, tightened my tilt wheel up! Huge improvement, i feel like i can actually turn now without wondering if something was gonna bind in the column lol

Not Done / Planning

Get my IROC centercaps on the rims
Weld O2 bung
Plumb lines for line lock
Front end (its getting bad lol) Ok so i'm getting ready to take the front springs out and put in the new ones. The more i look at everything up there the more i hate it. The stock brakes look like ****, and i could use some new steering arms. SO i'm looking at a C5 upgrade, only problem is i need them NOW. Car shows are upon us, and i miss drivin the car lol. We'll see what happens.

That's it for now, sorry no pics, need to find my USB cable.

Forgot i had this build thread!

Since the last update on here: sprayed the little 305 and toasted the clutch, decided to sell everything and go the LS route

Engine bay is painted, almost there!!
