not to pick on your car but im just pointing this out, when i first got my 86 it had an 82-83 style z28 hood like that on mine like yours does and i must say im glad i didnt keep it, it just looks too plan and like there is nothing there at all you know? no aggresive look or anything to it. must just be me but the iroc hoods look more aggressive in my eyes and im glad i changed. also i see what these cars looks like without a front plate on them and WOW

why does everyone call them iroc hoods, z28's had them too. so why do us z28 have to be degraded because of the irocs, lets just call it the louvered hood from now on

Ew you drive a plain Z? How do you live with yourself without the extra plastic badges and decals?

Re: hoods hoods hoods! post bad *** pics of your hoods

Hey could be worse, my car clearly states on its rear bumper almost as if to brag(I guess mpfi might have been a big deal at the time) that it has a 2.8 mpfi, though honestly I think I might leave it and not paint over it, some people might actually fall for the bait. Though my hood and exhaust note make me think not...but yeah, has something similar on door handles, but overall what few badges I have are non impressive, I have trouble sleeping at night over it, don't eat anymore, if only I just had a few more badges, should be so lucky to have z28 badges.

And more on topic, I think most people call them IROC-Z hoods because all the IROC-Z hoods have the new style louvers, the earlier year z28s have narrower(I think) and closer together louvers, thats why I call them IROC-Z hoods anyway.
Kind of a way of distinguishing between the two styles.

I believe none of the louvers are open in stock form, but some people make them functional for heat dissipation.

Re: hoods hoods hoods! post bad *** pics of your hoods

I have several hoods in the life of my car, stock z28, flat one for racing, and now just today I got a GREAT deal on a used Harwood lift off hood AND the pins from a guy in Atlanta.

Here's the before picture:

here's pictures of it sitting there (before pins are installed)

What should i do? Get it painted to match or make it flat black?

My son and I built velocity stacks out of 4 inch PVC pipe into some square metal boxes and thru the K&N filter to the TPI snorkel. The PVC is not so cool, but the under hood stuff looks REALLY good and works AWESOME for a ram-air effect.

Yes exactly. Cut the bottom of the boxes out and then built sheet metal boxes with 4 inch holes in them for the intake. I still have to weld it together, but it's ok for now.

Yeah back in 1990 I cut my rain diverters off my air boxes too. One of the first things I did on my new build. Good stuff.

what would be cool is if you put louver shaped inserts on each side, and istead of the louvers or blister you did them in clear plexiglass or something

4" Steel Cowl - some off-brand. Air cleaner barely tucks inside. Some really nice hoods on this thread...I love the ones with the louvers removed and replaced by plexiglass !! Really shows the engine off!!

Is is just me, or does that "427" emblem look like a piece of tape??

Nice ride nonetheless...

Some Sunoco love... I really think this is the best hood for the non gfx Camaros... Follows the lines of the front bumper perfectly...

Yes I know my fog light has a lazy eye.
