Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
your's is an RS. the sportcoupe name was dropped after 88 and replaced by the rs in 89. the 88 sportcoupes had a very specific spoiler and said "camaro" on the gfx, though the rs package was released in late 87 in cali, 88 for some other select states, it wasn't till 89 that it was the base model.

I've posted this in a separate thread, but it definitely belongs in here...
Sorry about the primed bottom and the general mess... it's a work in progress
A 1986 Sport Coupe, Canadian model. The only difference I could spot are the bilingual warning stickers.
There's also a black Sport Coupe of similar year around my neighbourhood (west Montreal island) - I'm hoping to catch that guy soon and ask stuff about his car

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
I am almost reluctant to post this. I bought my 85 sc in 2ooo. It had 25898 miles on it. I would have been a mint sc, but the kid i got it from, thought that just because primer is on sale that he should "prime" his car. He also tried to install some ***** lights so the headliner and headliner trim is messed up.
Since the paint was fubard, and i didnt have money to do it right cause i was in school, i went about with cant make it worse type of attitude and painted camo, just for laughs, used 89cent walmart paint.
This pic is from april 2003. Its all flat black now.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
two for one baby!
the red one in the back is mine. the white one is my buddies 85. the 85 recently got a set of z28 5 spokes and 2055's with a hooker catback.
heres a recent picture of mine. new goodmark cowl hood, and the bumper has been rattle canned a better matching red, lol. would love to paint it again, but theres a TON of rust. dunno if i'm going to try to save it, or find another LG4 87 SC.
finally the motor. shes a 350HO crate engine with a RPM intake, 650DP, hooker 2055's, and some MSD stuff. behind that is a custom edge 3200 TC, and a completely rebuilt 700r4 with all the goodies you can image. about to install a TV made EZ kit when i get home. stuffed an eaton posi and a set of 3.42s in the back. An aluminum LS1 DS connects the two.
For suspension i have moog iroc springs, gr-2s, 36mm hollow, wonderbar, sfcs, tubular lcas, zr1s, and some nittos.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
Here's a shot of my '86 SC:
It's a pretty well optioned car: LG4, automatic, fog lights, cargo compartment cover, cargo shade and some other goodies. I'm in the middle of converting the LG4 to a TPI setup using a LS1 PCM.
Here's my other SC, it's an '83:
This was originally an Iron Duke car with almost no options. When I got it the 'Duke' was gone and a 307 was under the hood. After I tore out the interior I found some body work someone tried to do from the inside. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or use it for parts; my son wants me to run it at the local demolition derby during our county fair but I don't know about that one.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
I pulled my sport coupe from storage for a quick exercise. On top of that, I replaced the smashed passenger side fender (which was a bitch by the way). Here some pictures.
I am aware of my rust issue. Of course I could rant about the salt usage in the Midwest, but lets save that for another thread .
Other than the fender being replaced, that's I got so far. I found another rallye rim, the driver front is bent, so this one will be painted and such. Finally, I can put the trim rings back on.

Yikes, that looks about the same as mine when I first got it. It really needs some TLC...
Anyway, here are some shots of mine, taken today - I've added this and that since the last photos...

Hey everyone, just found and joined this sight a little while ago. Came across this thread and decided I would make my first post here, since sometimes I feel like the sport coupes are non-existent. Everyone's cars look great! Here are a couple of pix of mine after the fire rebuild.

well i have an 88 s/c , it has the spoiler that no one liked in 88 . thats why i am going to keep the spoiler . anyway mine has so many options , ( ckd. RPO codes ) that i wondered why ? anyway putting in IROC grill & lights , ZQ8 wheels , and others in work now . many S/C's may not look like S/C's , mine does not . just a thought , cheers .

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
I actually installed Eibach Sportline springs on it, and although it helped, it is not as low as I expected it to be. I looked at it tonight and I think it may still be settling. I need to take some more measurements to confirm.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
Hopefully, the cowl hood is a sign of things to come. The car still has the stock, tired 305 in it, but the stock hood was trashed (see picture below) and since I was buying a different hood anyway, I picked one out that I thought my wife would like. The extra room underneath also helps.
Here is a side shot of the car to compare with your car:

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
Its a great look'n car for sure. 17" wheels? Looks like its come a long way from how it started. These pictures have encouraged me to debadge the sides and ditch the door ding gaurds, and probably the under chin splash gaurd. I could definetly justify a cowl, my current setup just barely fits with a crappy 1.5" aircleaner, and it should have a 3".

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
Yes, it has 17"x8" wheels. After seeing the side view picture of your car, I remembered something. When I was in the planning stages of building my wife's car, I searched www.thirdgen.org for pictures of Sport Coupes and I saved a picture of your car as reference material because I like the stance your car has and I also like the brushed aluminum wheels. Are they 17's also?

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
I know this is resurrecting an old thread...but I guess I'll share mine and see if anyone has any others to share.
My dad was the original owner of this car and he drove it daily from 84-05. In 05 I got it and drove it a year, then I got a newer daily so it went into storage till I finish school....Only another 1.5 years till I finish! It's all original(including paint) 2.8 v6, auto....alot of weird options though, like the overhead console.
The red Berlinetta in one of the pics was a car I picked up from it's original owner a few years ago...it only had 28,000km's on it....Sold it to some guy who junked it in a couple years
Last summer I took it out o storage or a couple days to keep it running....these are pics rom then....kept the winter rims on it.

Thanks man.
The steering wheel was put on by my dad just after he bought it in 84....It's a 'personal' brand wheel....really nice leather wrapped rim. The center peice can be removed for more of a racing style look also....I love it too, but I've also never seen another like it.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?
I recently bought a 1987 camaro. It was sitting in this ladies gargae in the back of her house and apparently it came with the house since the original owner didnt want it and said it didnt run and she could have it, i noticed there wasnt any fuel getting to the carb. so only a few things i figured could be wrong, i asked how much she wanted for it she said $1000, i showed her my wallet and with the exception of 20 dollars for gas ill give you everything, sturck a deal and it was $600, aren't grey haired old women just peachy? i felt a little guilty, but what the hell, it has scratches pain chips, bald *** tires ready to blow, rugged scratched up tint, dirty *** seats that i cant get clean (help/adivce on that?) also i have no idea what it is..its not an itroc or z/28, i hear from friends its a sport coupe, but on almost every attatchment fenders, bumpers, ect they all have machine impreinted, "Camaro Sport Coupe Berlinetta" so does that mean its a berlinetta or did they stop calling them berlinetta's and DUB them sport coupe? (will upload pictures when acheive the glorious compounds for a digital camera called batteries)
