5.3 going from 700r4 to 4l60e

Hi All - I finished up my swap about a year ago and have never quite been happy with the 700. I can't get it to shift between 15-20 with the cable. I have searched for the info I need but can't find anything definitive for some reason. Currently have car on Term X and know I will need to go with either external controller or term X max for 4l60e.

I've picked up a 4l60e core to rebuild but can't find confirmation that it will fit. The code is 9CFD - it's form a 99 4.8L ext cab truck apparently. It has the bolt on bell housing with the top bolt hole, 6 bolt 2WD tail shaft. I vaguely remember that this unit is longer than the 700 or early 4l60's

I currently have the aluminum LS1 drive shaft on the 700r4 - will this drive shaft work with the 4l60e above or will I need to mod it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

2wd 4l60e will work. Your choice on whether or not you want to swap out the truck tailhousing for the fbody style one. If you maintain the truck housing you will need to use a crossmember that has a torque arm provision like the holley one. the factory driveshaft will work. Swap the linkage arm over from the 700r4 to the 60e,

I forgot to mention I already have the holley crossmember with torque arm provision with the 700. So it sounds like I can go with what I have and it should drop in like the 700 did confirmed?

I won't be able to reuse the TC from the 700. The car is roughly 400 rwhp and a street car only - don't plan to race at all. What TC stall do you all recommend for this application? Car is currently on terminator x and when I add the trans - it will have either the terminator x max OR tci ez-tcu. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

So I'm going with Term X Max - does 2600 stall TC sound reasonable for a street only car?

Re: 5.3 going from 700r4 to 4l60e

Only an Early 4L60E with a 4-Bolt Tail-Shaft Housing will have the same Cross-Member/ Mount Location/ Dimensions as a THM700-R4.

Later 6-Bolt Tail-Shaft Housing 4L60E/ 65E/ 70E/ 75E Transmissions require a different Cross-Member/ Mount Location.

Below is an Image of one of the Cross-Members that I used to Produce for both Transmission Types (waiting for Powder-Coating):

Yes, I have the Holley Blackheart crossmember already with the UMI torque arm. Which according to my info will work. Just trying to figure out the torque convertor as I don't really know much about them.

Re: 5.3 going from 700r4 to 4l60e

The different Engine Families:
-Gen-1 Small Block Chevy 305, 350, Etc.
-Gen-3 Small Block Chevy 4.8L, 5.3L, Etc.

Use different Flex-Plates and different Torque-Converters.

Because this has become common to swap these different Generational Components...
Most Custom Torque-Converter Companies will assemble whatever you need to join the Engine and Transmission
(As long as you know your Flex-Plate and Transmission Specs... Otherwise do the Legwork and Piece everything together individually).

Re: 5.3 going from 700r4 to 4l60e

The trans is physically in. Needed to round out a couple holes on the crossmember adapter to get bolts through. Driveshaft went right on.

The only issue I was not aware of was the shifter shaft is too long since trans was from a truck. Looks like it won't be too hard too swap for the fbody one.
Need to wire up the trans wiring to the Term X Max and we should be in business.
