Re: Best Long tube headers for LT1 going into a 3rd gen

I bought a set of Hedman 68469 off a guy in the forums. They're the best ones bc they're designed for our cars with an LT1. Even have D-Ports. Bad news is they're discontinued and you can only find them if someone has them to sell. Dyno Don on here makes some, but they're pretty expensive IMO. Mine went right in after a little wrestling from the bottom. Hope you can find some, and if I run across some, I'll let you know.

My Hooker 2210LT's fit just fine.

2210 installs are well documented, almost nothing needs to change as compared with installing 2210's on a TPI/TBI car.

I used Stainless Works with the Y-Pipe and they work great. The only speed bumps are that a second O2 bung needs to be installed on the passenger collector, and if using a T56 the driver's one needs to be moved.

Are you going hard core racing?
If not forget the long tubes they are a lot of pain for the little gain.

Re: Best Long tube headers for LT1 going into a 3rd gen

I used Doug's D3321 on my LT1 swap. They've discolored a little from the engine break-in but have worked great. They even fit around my T-5 from Astro. Dyno Don is right though, the amount of money I've spent getting a nice exhaust that's tucked up could have been significantly less if I went with say the hooker blackheart kit.

Re: Best Long tube headers for LT1 going into a 3rd gen

I tried the Dougs 3321 and just could not get my passenger side to bolt the head. Header was massaged to help, but didn't work for my application. I decided to sell. Never used, just a tube dented to help clear the K frame. Some people cut this area if they have the issue. I chose not to and did header instead. I already cut the ear off my a arm and didn't want to do anything further.
Anyway, if you are interested in dougs 3321 L/T shoot me a PM and I'll send you pics.

Re: Best Long tube headers for LT1 going into a 3rd gen

I've wasted too much money And time on long tubes. I started with hedman 68460 and they were fine for the price, then went to hookers 2210 and they were fine, now I'm looking to go back to a mid length because I a man sick of the pipe rubbing dips in the road. I have a sphon crossmember for the t56 with torque arm attached and therefore I can't run pipe beside transmission which means only option is down and around frame...it sucks and not worth it imo. Just get dyno Don's and be done with it...if u have the Hawks crossmember u can run pipes back but then u lose the torque arm mount....pick your poison.
