stainless works headers install

Hello i having trouble installing the stainless headers. My driver side is perfectly fine a little tight but in. The passenger side is a whole other story. It seems to be stuck on the transmission flange/ dust shield. I already shaved roughly an 1/8th off it. Have any LSx swap guys run into this problem?

Re: stainless works headers install

If your speaking of the ear that sticks off the side on the passenger side, I just cut mine off with a cutoff wheel. Mine were hitting that spot only. My drivers side went in really easy with plenty of room. I'm using the 2" primary tube ones. I also have a tubular K-member so I have lots of room under there

Re: stainless works headers install

I'm working on mine now I am installing a set of RI stainless headers and found the collector touching and tubes are extremely close to the right sub frame. No ear on my bell housing. On the left side pretty close to the fuel and brake lines. I am going to drop the engine back out of the car to reposition the brake line and remove the fuel lines in favor of a braided stainless line kit. Is it possible to slightly tweak the headers on the right side for the clearance needed from the sub frame?

Re: stainless works headers install

I just test installed a set of Speed Engineering headers on my '92 build. So far looks like they will be a good fit.

Are those the cheap Chinese headers?

The 2" has entirely different routing and a better fit.

Re: stainless works headers install

Not sure where they're made but I bought a set of Racing Innovations headers and the fit was horrible, poor construction, welds were really poor. Flanges looked like they were cut with a plasma cutter. Speed Engineering site says they manufacture them in Calif. I do know they fit well and quality appears very good.

BlackMamba94's pics look about how bad the RI headers fit.
