Good lord, If I can get mine looking half this good under the hood I'll be very pleased. Great work so far.

I wish I had the garage, I have mine in the middle of my two car garage and there is not enough room.

Finally finished up the heater lines with the 90 degree adapter at the heater core
Tied up the battery cables
Power steering pump on
Tied up wiring to the starter so there are no issues with the headers.
Modified the power steering bracket so I can pass wires behind it.

Very clean I must say. It looks very well thought out and executed. This is something I would one day like to do to another firebird. Keep up the good work.

Not trying to be negative but I believe you are looking for mega issues from your harness by tying off to metal parts with tyraps. I would have installed cushion clamps, especially on battery cables but even on the engine harness after a few thousand miles you will regret it. I do this wiring thing professionally on aircraft so I have seen it all with wire routing. Otherwise great work.

Holy crap, that red iroc on page one... That body & paint is perfect looking! Nice job man, that's one of the best red iroc-z's I've ever seen no joke.
I can't wait to see this z28 done up, It's going to be awesome. Thanks for the eye candy btw. I don't know how I missed this thread until now.

You missed the thread because it was in the restoration section. The moderators recently moved it to the LSx swap section for me.

Yes that is going to be a problem. The battery cable could cause a fire, the engine sensor wiring is going to cause all kinds of weird stuff. Don't rely on the braided shield to protect the harness we use that stuff on jet engines at work, it is tough but will rub through especially on the sharp corners you have it tyrapped to. You could drill and tap a 1/2" deep X 3/16" hole in that boss to bolt a clamp to.

Really should use three - especially with the e-trans you have and it's an easy fix.
Even the fluids can be 'charged', and when flowing to the radiator can cause havoc. Some even use a sacrificial diode in the radiator so the core isn't compromised. Cheap insurance.

The third ground surely can't hurt. My old L98 had about 6 grounds attached to the back of the heads plus one from the right head to the firewall. No ground from the trans (non electric 700R4 though) nor the front sub frame. In my build I will use this ground. I'll probably run one from a trans attach bolt to the back of a head then one from an engine mount bolt to the K member plus one to the firewall plus from the trans mount to the crossmember. Its been years since I've seen someone use the zinc parasitic anode inside the radiator. It's not needed, fluids aren't an issue with grounds, the engine will simply run like crap without sufficient grounding. Additional ground/bonding wires are always good.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
I was actually being facetious.
I only used 2 ground straps, but many more grounds to and from the engine. In addition I did not reuse the 3rd gen battery cables one bit, I used 4th gen ones which are bicker guage to both body and engine ground.
3rd gens stock had a very skinny body ground and only a ground strap to compensate which is stupid, but that's what somebody put into design and thats what was produced and installed. It is what it is

Looks like a good crowd this week, I was busy, so didn't have a chance. I'm hoping to get out to Woodward a bit more this year, put some cruising miles on the GTA instead of commuting miles
Awesome build, as has been said. You work for Katech?

I didn't like the way I did the fitting in the radiator for the steam vent. I changed it to a 90 degree fitting so the hose is going in the correct direction.
Custom power steering line from Fluid Systems
Power steering system completed
Mounted the PCM in the OEM locaton and tied up right side dash wiring.

Hawks headers back from coating. O2 sensors crash into the trans so I guess I'll be welding new O2 bungs into freshly coated headers.
Modified shift selector arm. I drilled out the ball stud on the bottom and bolted in the ball stud from the 700R4 to accept the 3rd gen shift cable.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
I was on vacation for a week. Now I'm back and on the project.
BMR torque arm in and exhaust is all wrapped up.
Headers in. Coil brackets off awaiting Katech valve covers. Painted intake cover is on and the photo is in black and white to disguise the color.
Working on air intake system couplers. Fluids are in. Cranks. Has oil pressure. Electrical checks passed. Almost ready to fire.
Katech valve covers prepped and base coat of white laid down.

Finished up the air intake system
Installed Katech valve covers and coil relocation kit
The car cranks and fires. I only ran it for a second because I'm waiting for the Katech belt tensioner that is on backorder. I also need mufflers.

Those valve covers are really nice, too bad they have to be covered with wires. Nice build.

Where did you get your intake connector and clamps at? Im trying to finish up my LS6 project and Im running the TPI air intake as well and i cant find anything to run between my air intake and MAF sensor. The car looks amazing by the way

Installed the Katech belt tensioner last night. Yes, it's purple. I finished up a few PCV lines then fired it up and bled the cooling/power steering systems. It runs! It's a little loud though without mufflers. I need to work on the calibration of the tach and speedometer signals because they are way too high.

That's cool, bright, really pops against the black background.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
Installed Corsa 4th gen exhaust. It fits with no problems. All you need are 4th gen hangers. I had to trim the front pipe but I'm not sure if that's because of the Hawks Third Gen y pipe.

Love all the work and pics!
With your experience and shop access, you make work arounds look easy (ie. Hawks).
Is your TA tailstock mounted? I used a cross-member, and it allowed for adtl. exhaust support.

The torque arm is mounted to the production bracket on the trans with a polyurethane bushing.

Exhaust looks good, looks like clearance is no issue.

Down to the metal, any cracks at the window top/rear corner?
You may know of this already, but there is a product called Lizard Skin that is supposed to be really good, there is heat management and sound insulation versions. It sprays on like paint, and can be layered on top of each other. Now would be the perfect time, since it's getting stripped down anyway.

I was thinking of doing some Dynamat before I do the interior.
