305 to lt1 help

I'm planning just for now to pull injection off lt1 so I don't have to tinker with wiring and put an intake / carb on it. Will my 91 305 intake and headers fit the lt1? Idk the difference in the heads

Third gen headers are mandatory, they will bolt up, you'll want to use ones with 1 3/4 primaries to 'swallow' the exhaust port. No your intake will not work. There are carb'd LT1 intakes out there. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-24502592 To be honest, just build a gen 1 SBC and have more choices heads, not hassle with coolant system changes and so on. Otherwise I'd keep the sequential fuel injection, it's worth it on an LT.

That was my plan to build a 350 with vortec heads but I'm tight on money and time with school. I found an lt1 in a roadmaster I'm gonna grab and I think all the serpentine brackets will work. Gonna hold on to injection and harness, but i have the carb so if I have to buy an intake to save 2 wks of mods then that's fine. I'm not sure what my headers are.. All I could tell you is I got them off a 91 305 parts car. So I hope they work (they are shorties).. Also I should probably call engine shop for this, but let's say an lt1 with 2000 rpm stall, dual plane intake, and a Holley 650 vacuum secondary, what's the best cam to run if motor has let's say 150k (not sure). Trying to keep it streetable just mild

Just a little background info. The 305 had almost 300k on it with way too big of a cam and started knocking so I'm looking to get this thing running quick.

If you still need to buy a stall and have the factory one, you can run it and keep the stock cam for now. It moves my wagon around pretty well. Then save till you can really build an engine. Or just find a cheap 305 and waste as little money as possible. Save and build later, it works out so much better that way. That's why so many suggest that.

I completely understand. But the thing is, my car is built for racing on street. I have 2000 stall with fresh build th350 with shift kit, rebuilt rear end, I'm looking for something to keep my hp up. I want the lt1 with carb and cam because after school I plan to tear it back down and completely rebuild it with injection

Plausible way to do it. If the LT is close to free it may work out well. I won't talk you out of it but I wouldn't bother spending money on something temporary. Don't get me wrong, my LT1 is my favorite engine but I'd never carb one. I'd carb a vortec first. I hope it works out well for you though.

It would be more work and expense to put a carb on the LT1 than it would be to wire in the LT1 EFI.

I agree to a point. It may be a wash depending on how he wants to go about it. I was in a similar situation, I did not want to limit myself to the single bowtie Lt1 dual plane carb intake so I decided to re-drill the heads for a gen 1 intake. It is not that difficult. Many have done it.

EDIT

I have a stock FBody lt1 cam if your interested.
