4thgen Gauge cluster and Fuel gauge, w/ thirdgen tank
I have a 91 z28 with a ls1. I have a full 4thgen interior and complete 4th gen wiring harness. I need to hook up the fuel gauge to my thirdgen tank.
How can I do this? I read somewhere that I needed resistors? If so, what type and how many?

Hmmm, is this because of the 4th gen wiring and LS1 computer?
I have a 4th gen (3.8L firebird) interior and instrument cluster being powered by a 3rd gen harness and computer but my fuel gauge works fine, reading full when full and empty when empty and relatively accurate (as accurate as the 3rd gen unit was) in between.

search for the p/n for IIRC a Pontiac level sender thingy lol i forget the exact part name
but just swap it out and should read correctly , but modding the resistor is another option do a quick search should find what you seek
to 85f... it will read but its not entirely accurate to say the least due to the voltage difference the cluster reads out hence why you need resister or change the level sender out

If I understand this correct you want to use your third gen tank and sending unit and the 4th gen dash/gauges? If so you need the stock 4th gen one of these, and that should be it.

Wish I would have known that when I had the tank out lol. No way that tank is coming out anytime soon. Biggest pain I have ever performed on that car.
So it looks like I have to add in resistors. I searched the resistor thing and didn't come up with anything. Ill keep looking.

^ Aint that the truth. Tank drops on third gens are no fun at all. To my knowledge no one figured out an external way to solve this to save you time searching. Dropping the tank again is your best bet unfortunately

Yea only way is to drop tank like said above the resistor is built into the fuel sender , good time to make a cool little fuel pump door
