Car: 1989 IROC-Z28 Camaro
Engine: 403 LSX
Transmission: TH400
Axle/Gears: Moser 9" 3.25's
89' IROCZ 403ci LSX and an S91

So after going through many different cars over the past few years, I had a ton of fun but I missed my Camaro. The Camaro was my first LS swap and first LS powered vehicle ever. Back in December of 2011 I was getting ready to put a built 383 and TH400 into the Camaro when myself and a friend decided to build a racecar together. I provided the engine/transmission, and he provided the rolling chassis/turbo kit. So there went the drivetrain for my Camaro. It sat for a year as we built/raced the white fox. I contemplated putting a stock LS/T56 back into the Camaro but I never did. I ended up pulling out the Moser 9" that was in it and selling the car and rear end separately. Since selling the Camaro I have owned 5 Mustangs and 1 Trans am. Despite going 9's in two different cars and having a blast, I just missed the Camaro too much. So I tracked down the owner of it and struck a trade deal so I could get it back. The owner had already installed a heads/cam 6.0 LS and T56 into the car along with a really nice Strange 9" rear end. The terms of the deal came out to basically trading my 2000 Trans Am roller for the IROC roller. But to convince him to do the trade I ended up having to pull the motor/trans/rear end out of both cars and installing all of his stuff into the TA and getting it running for him. Well since the TA was an Auto car, it turned out to be A LOT of work. And on top of all that work, when I was finished and fired it up, his motor was knocking. I had nothing to do with building that motor so I wasn't responsible for fixing it it just sucked that I did all that work just to find out the motor needed to be gone through. Anyways he came and picked up the car and I was now able to start working on the maro. So now I have the 403/TH400/Moser 9" out of the TA ready to go into the IROC. But before I can do all that, I plan on doing a lot of work to the chassis. I also plan on smoothing and painting the engine bay, along with building a tubular radiator support. On to the specs.

MOTOR:
Iron 403ci LSX
Eagle Crank and Rods
Mahle 4.005" -12cc pistons
custom grind FMS cam
Havent decided on heads yet
ARP Head studs
Holley Hi-Ram intake
Ebay 102mm Throttle body
AEM EMS

POWER ADDER:
Forced inductions S91
Borg Warner
91mm Compressor wheel
96mm Turbine wheel
T6 1.32 A/R turbine housing

TRANS:
Built TH400 (really want to do a 4l80)
Moroso deep pan
PTC 3600 Nitrous Converter
B&M Shifter
Steel 1350 Driveshaft

REAR END:
Moser 9"
3.25 gears
35 spline axles
Detroit Locker
Nodular Center section
12mm stock length studs

SUSPENSION:
BMR rear LCA's
LCA relocation brackets (instant center correction)
JEGS non adjustable shorty torque arm
Stock Fox body rear springs lol
Bilstien rear shocks
BMR Adjustable panhard bar
All stock front end besides lowering springs

WHEELS/TIRES:
Bogart D10s Bolted
15x10 Race rears with 28x10.5 slicks (might try some 8.5's this year)
15x3.5 Street fronts with VW bug tires lol 165 80 R15

The car weighed in at 3250lbs with an LS1/T56/9" full interior and corvette wheels no driver the last time I weighed it. I'm shooting for 3000lbs with driver this year. Going to be taking out a decent amount of weight but also adding some with the cage/iron block etc.

Sorry for the long read, on to the pics!!

Sold all my nitrous stuff and bought an S91, also picked up a fuel pump, ordered kirkeys, and waiting on the rest of the cage to show up so I can get going on that.

Re: 89' IROCZ 403ci LSX and an S91

So I got the engine torn down to inspect it. All the bearings look good besides the thrust bearing. There was minimal shavings in the oil but they were there. Looks like a feshen-up is in order. I ran the PN on the pistons and it turns out they are -12cc instead of flat tops like the guy told me. So instead of 11.5:1 compression, the motor was 10.5:1. I'm thinking about going with some AI LSA heads which are 68cc. That will drop the compression down to 10.3:1 so I hope I can afford them lol. Also got my Kirkey seat mounted up with the Racecraft bracket, that was pretty easy I just had to drill 6 holes. I will say that the Racecraft seemed really flimsy to me but it should be a lot better once I get the cage in and fab a rear seat bracket. I got the fuel tank out to install a sump and mod the hat. Has anyone on here modded an 82-92 f-body fuel pump hat to run a single -8an return line? Anyone ran a bulkhead fitting somewhere else on the tank for a return? I picked up a Wolfe Anti-Roll bar from Grayson, and the rest of my cage should be here today, which gives me 15 days to finish it to get certed. Time to thrash on that bad boy!
MIA has started back doing business thank goodness so I can get the same wing I had on my Fox....for my Camaro! Here is a link to the wing.

I am selling the cam out of this engine here: http://truestreetcars.com/forums/par...g-lsx-cam.html

Wow, that thrust bearing looks pretty rough. And that turbo looks huge! I bet that thing will be a blast to drive once you get it done. Good luck with it.

This looks all to familiar. I remeber I was thinking about buying your car years ago. Good to see you got it back and are back to it. I've driven and built alot of diffrent cars but my fav is always an LS powered thirdgen.
