I found this company that offers a LSx front cover/ conventional dizzy conversion to simplify a carb swap/LSx engine swap.Nice part is the dizzy is up front adding more room for the LSx swap.

Let the man speak his mind. Anywho.... Why not just slap a victor jr. Intake , buy the msd timing control module, and put a carb on it? It would be ALOT less complicated.

The MSD would technically make it more complicated, if you dont want to get into electronics

Because if you want to do individual cylinder timing tuning or various launch ramp rate that higher end msd boxes can do you run a distributor up front. Then again judging by these comments none of you are anywhere at the level to build something like that. I'll take my rowdy cammed carbed motor over an rpm choked intake like a fast. There's a reason the fast guys are running carb style intakes when staying na or nitrous

i would just like to hear why this is a good idea and what advantages does it have over the msd box or the factory fuel injection
All i want to know is how you justify spending $700 for a timing cover to run a distributor???? You are going from multiport fuel injection with coil over plug all the way back in time to the distributor days. I just want to know why people are doing this, i never get a reason just all i hear is "because he wants too". Are people doing for class restrictions or what??

going carbed can pick up quite a bit more power through the entire rpm range..it may not be as fuel efficient since its not fuel injected and that more dependent on the carb tuning.alot of guys forget that when the ls motors are designed with efi isnt made for max performance..its for emissions and fuel economy first.

what i do like about carbed ls motors is the torque pickup comes in earlier and isnt choking up after 6500rpm.building a efi lsx to make power past that requires a fast intake..injectors,rails plus ecm tune gets expensive in a hurry.$700 for the timing cover and dizzy seems cheap when a fast intake is well over that even used :S.going carbed for a healthy na or nitrous build is extremely common with good reason if you are racing at those levels.

carbs are far from dead technology when it comes to racing.they work and quite simply..its just not for eveyone..inlcuding myself for the purpose of my car.i cant argue the results ive seen from other guys running them with less money invested than my own setup.to each his own.

side note..there are some nasty devilish sounding carbed ls motors out there that make me drool haha.cam manufacturers are coming out with more carbed ls cam designs if that tells you anything of its potential.
