82-92 Camaro Firebird LSX Conversion 4" Cold Air Intake Kit
Has anyone ever used this kit? I purchased one about a year ago and now that I am getting around to doing my swap this just isn't looking right. There is no place for MAT and the filter does not fit the hose supplied?? Any thoughts?? Tried Hawks but they are closed untill Jan. 2nd.

Another Question, Is there a 4" MAF sensor (105mm) that can be used instead of the factory 3.5 without reprograming? I am using a 98 PCM.

Any MAF change will require a retune
You have 3 MAF options, stock 75mm 3 wire MAF for 3.5" intake, stock 85mm 5 wire truck MAF for 4" intake, and hybrid +100mm housing LS3/7 5 wire MAF

This kit would work better with the 85mm maf,if you are using the stock ls1 75mm maf you have to really try to tighten the clamps down to seal against the maf housing to make a good seal. Since you have the seperate mat sensor the easiest thing to do is pick a place you want to put it..drill a hole in the intake tube slightly smaller than the sensor itself and slide it in for a snug fit.Or find a grommet that the sensor slide tightly into and make a hole for the grommet and maybe a lil adhesive to seal the grommet.
What do you mean the filter doesnt fit the tube..too big or too small?Maybe you got the wrong size filter..have you measured the in/outside diameter to verify? Im sure hawks will help you when they re-open after the holidays if you want to be patient.

maf - i opted for the 85mm truck sensor since it was cheaper to get ahold of and had the air temp sensor built in (no need to find a home for an additional sensor)
filter - looks from the picture that it has a couple of adapters in there to allow it to fit multiple size hoses. any chance yours is set up the same?
on my swap, I opted to build my own cai and came out around $100 for elbows and tubing once I got all my sizes right (maf, tb, filter).

Why would you not get a custom tune for your engine? You're going to have to turn off some fault codes and choose correct settings for tachometer so you're getting some type of tune no matter what. If you don't want to pay for dyno time then do a mail order tune from Texas Speed or Frost. It will run pretty darn good even without the dyno time. It will sure as heck run better than stock tune and you won't regret it.
Since you're getting a tune anyway (hint hint), get a 85mm MAF sensor from a truck or Corvette. I bought the PowrMAF 100mm with the LS7 5-wire sensor. It was a pretty darn good price and has a sturdy plastic housing. The plastic won't transfer near as much heat as the overly expensive billet metal housings.

Thanks for the replys! I was just being stupid I guess. The PCM has all ready been bench tuned so that this combo will run. I was just trying to think of an easy solution to the problem, I should have been thinking cost effectiveness. I will go and buy another filter so I can obtain another adaptor and sell the rest of the filter to get some money back. $25.00 vs. Hundreds..... All I need is one more adaptor like this one,Sorry If I misslead. The system works at the TB and air filter, just not the MAF. The filter does come with adaptors that I need for the MAF But you only get one of each size and I need two (one for each side of the MAF). Then I can start locating my wiring harness.
once this is obtained the CAI will be complete except for the MAT. Yall think it would be fine to just drill a hole in the rubber hose and it will stay? I'm worried it will suck through and the engine will eat it! Thanks.

If it gets sucked in, that should tell you that your air filter is way too restrictive.
