It has been done, but I can't point you to a specific thread or member.
Everything associated with the engine, transmission, exhaust, and fuel system need to be swapped over. Technically, the cats off of the manifolds need to be swapped over, which is an issue because of chassis changes between 3rd and 4th gen.
The fuel tank includes the evap system. You'll need the PCM control of the evap system, and the fuel level sender is part of the input - you can't make the PCM fuel gauge output (serial) work with a 3rd gen gauge (analog), so swapping the 4th gen dash/instrument cluster is usually considered part of the job.
It's a lot of stuff, but it can be done.

Ramair21 on the board has done it and I'm in the process of doing it as well... If you have any questions you can give me a call.
You will need all the Emissions equipment such as AIR/EGR/CATS/HO2S/EVAP, etc and they have to be functional. You will need the Fuel tank from the donor car since it has a pressure sensor in it. You will also need the manifolds and to modify the cats so that they'll work on the body, but you can't move them more than 1" away from their previous location (from the donor car). You will need to use the engine with the trans that came with it as well, ex. you can't use a 700r4 with an ls1, it would have to be ls1/4L60e or LS1/t56. You can get away without using the cluster iirc.
