The GTA gets down the track!
To our surprise Edgewater Race Park was open today for test and tune so we got one more chance to go fast. Last week me, my wife and my Dad all took turns running the car at Tri-state while our tuner, Tracey Scott with Cincy Speed, made adjustments. The da was a little over 1,500 that day and around 150 today. Last week's best time was posted by Dad at 11.63 @ 117.8 mph. Today...much faster.
I started it off with 11.35 at 120 and backed it up with an 11.358 at 120.26 mph. Then the wife took a few cracks at it (6 lol) and finished her turns off with back-to-back 11.31's! Of course I wanted to lay a better time for the sake of my pride. Problem was, she got pulled off the track after her last pass and given the 'what for' regarding running faster than 11.5 without a roll bar. She begged them to let us continue to run under the condition that we button the cut-outs back up and re-install the cold-air induction tube onto the throttle body. They said ok as long as she assured them that under no circumstances she would go faster than 11.5. (Must be nice to be Beautiful)
So we buttoned it all up and returned to street action form. I hopped in and did a good burn out and knocked down a 11.22 @ 121 mph, setting a new best for the car for every measurement. 1.55 60ft. time, 7.15 1/8th mile and over 96mph in the 8th.
Wow! Does that make sense to anyone? I mean the faster with exhaust closed up part, not that my wife was beating me most of the day part. lol

Re: The GTA gets down the track!
Dad and Jen are both lighter than me and can run anywhere from a tenth to half a tenth quicker than me because of it. So I agree, Jen could have run at least an 11.18 and Dad a 11.13.
I wonder what the car would have done with a few more attempts as the temperature was just starting to drop. The air was much better right before the track closed but we were already 50 miles away eating Penn Station and celebrating the car's success.

I suspect we haven't yet seen all she will do! It gets much faster every time it goes out.

Re: The GTA gets down the track!
Here are some pics of Jen putting the hurt on a couple of seasoned racers. She didn't lose a match up all day even against the green Trans am that tree'd her here in the pic. She left the line sideways, at one point he had almost 2 cars on her. She never came off the floorboard and came back to inch him out at the line on the big end. That's my girl! I'm glad I didn't have to race her. I'm not 100 % positive but it sure looks to me like in at least 2 of the pictures that she pulled a wheel off the track. 1 picture was taken just before she got to the 60 ft line and it's barely on the ground even there.

This car just does everything right..and the stories behind it are entertaining.Ha..the officials must've loved your last pass after assuring them to do only 11.5s..instead it goes fast with full exhaust and intake pipe..which i have no explanation for but thats just awesome none the less.Very deadly sleeper looking car ...it must be catching some attention at the track having a female really whoop tale with a smile. You must love hearing comments from other racers lol.
for the sake of your pride..might want to have your tuner make a selectable tune just for you to turn on so no matter what..your times are the fastest out of the 3 of you

Yeah, the other racers notice and it seems pretty hard to even get anyone to line up against it. We ran 5 runs with an empty left lane even though cars were in line. The mustangs were running eachother mainly, although she busted two of them. The faster one went 11.86 to her 11.44 and she beat him off the line by 3 tenths. HA!
She just read the selectable tune suggestion so THAT'S OUT NOW! CRAP!

I love how you all get to enjoy the car. Very cool. Nothing better than an LS engine. Nothing sounds better than the rev limitter on a LS. Hell i dont even cringe at the site of 6000+ rpms in my cars anymore because they can hit it everyday and be setting there ready to do it again the next morning I LOVE IT!!

Re: The GTA gets down the track!
She loves to beat mustangs! I don't know why but she has the same level of irritation towards them that most chevy guys do. Oh wait, now I remember. Her ex-husband had a mustang as his first car when they first dated. That's just too funny, but true. Can't believe I didn't put that together sooner. How fitting for him too. LOL You'd have to know him to understand.

Hehe my advice was just a joke...Im sure you would never do such a thing just to be the fastest driver of the car right
And lmao @ the whole mustang situation.

Yes, Yes, and yes. Tri-state is pretty rough though and I haven't been real impressed with them lately. Roll bar will be in when the tracks open in the spring. See ya then?

Re: The GTA gets down the track!
air? Buttoned up exhaust? CAI put back on? Stalled it higher too. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I like it. Just wish we could have made a few more passes after capping the cut-outs before they kicked us out. I'm sure my skinny wife could have put her in the 11.teens.

Re: The GTA gets down the track!
Performabuilt level 2 4L60e with an EDGE 3,200 stall. Gonna have the stall sent back and go with a 4,200 over the winter and have a roll bar put in.
