92 Z28 LSx/ T56 swap from IrocBoost
Since a few people have asked what my latest project I was working on I figured I'd make a thread with my progress.
I parted out/ am parting out the 91 RS I had that was LS1 T56 swapped. I got the car swapped and was having to replace and re-do everything because of the hack job the swap was and the body being worn out I decided to search for a new car to build.
After driving it a bit I relized the car was floating real bad so I got under and found EVERY endlink rusted shut and all the rubber bushings gone. Struts where blown. A few other odds and ends. So after the following...
SPohn front and rear sway bar
Adj Panhard bar
2" lowering springs
New struts
J&M Strut towers
C5 brake conversion
and a nifty set of cheap wheels...
This is where it sits now. Feels like a new car BTW:
Now I have most of the swap things still left over from the other car and aquaired another LQ4 motor and T56 trans. So a cammed LQ4 and a T56 wil be in the near future for this. Would like to get a buyer for the motor and trans in the car though beofre I tear apart a good running car. More updates to follow!

I might see if someone would want to buy it before I did the swap itself. It still kinda needs stuff, but we will see.

+1 for the Junkyard engine. 5.3 or 6.0. I'm builing a boosted 5.3 with stock bottend and head studs with LS6 camshaft and spring uprgrade with LS2 intake. Shooting for 800 hp. Hopefulling I can tune it with Mega squirt with out blowing it up!

lol yea i was thinking about that due to less compression trust me ive been searching for good one but the latinos have a good system down and take all good parts as soon cars trucks are are newly put into junkyard its kinda crazy really but it sucks too
im only look for 600ish lol just being conservative and still manage over 20-25mpg on freeway which is doable goal for me ive seen and driven in turbo gm trucks and they achieve that in a heavier vehicle so yea

I only say that because I had one of them as well, traded my LT1/T56, spohn, bmr, slp everything upgraded swapped 88 camaro for it due to the rarity of the combo for that year, unfortunately mine was totalled

Yeah, and they are all in cahoots with each other now that LKQ is incorporated. That also drove the price up on the parts.

Re: 92 Z28 LSx/ T56 swap from IrocBoost
Grifter, I finished my swap a few weeks ago, I was working on the tune and pressure built up in the tank, or vaccum , anyhow I replaced the C5 filter/reg. I was wondering cause it looked like you are running a stock tank as well, what are you doing with the stock line that goes to the evap canister? I am swapping the pump out in the AM but before I go running around I am gonna use a vented cap, just wasn't sure about that evap can line, any help would be great. Great deal on that car too btw, gl with the swap. Dan

Re: 92 Z28 LSx/ T56 swap from IrocBoost
Got all the bugs worked out and even though it took me twice as long as I thought it would I could not be happier with the end result. Car feels amazing for a super super low budget build. Here's the run down on the car now and will hopefully get some video later.
Low Mile 6.0 Iron Shortblock
243 heads
Comp Cams 228 224 .588 .581 113 Reverse Split
LS7 Lifters
LS2 Timing Chain
Stainless Long tube headers
True Dual exhaust with some chamber muffler = LOUD
Most everything I had left over from other builds or traded stuff I had. The car feels amazing and can't wait to get it on the dyno and then some track time to see what it'll do.
