Thinking of purchasing a 94 firebird to swap in my 88 camaro cfouple questions
Are u the exhaust manifolds the same as the 4th gen camaros? If not ate they usable in a third gen camaro? Also motor mounts and trans tail length? The 3rdthe gen camaro camaro i have is a 305. 5 speed i plan on usimg the whole drive train out of the 94 firebord which is an lt1. T56. I also plan to use the rear end out of the firebird. Will i run into drive shaft lenght problems or should everything bolt up fairly easy with new mounts on the k member new trans mount. Im assuming there might bhe some welding needed done to make the rear end work. Any info would help kme tremendously. Or should i just hold out and find a 4 th gen camaro?

Re: Thinking of purchasing a 94 firebird to swap in my 88 camaro cfouple questions
So I bought this 1994 Firebird with 97,000 on the clock for $2000 seemed reasonable. I plan to swap the Lt1 and 6 speed into my 88 Camaro convertible. Sorry about the stupid questions in my first post I did some searching on here and found most of the answers I needed. Looks like I'll be using the radiator, exhaust manifolds, drive shaft, rear end,and motor mounts from the 88 which is a 305 5 speed as of now. 305 and 5 speed will be for sale on here when I get around to that part they both have around 87,000 miles on them the guy I bought it from said the trans just had $600 of work done to it and I believe it because I have never driven one that shifted as easy at high rpms like this one does. I haven't decided what pedal config to go with yet looks like I'lll decide that when the time comes. I should be starting a build thread here soon or might as well come it a restoration thread because its a little rough I have torn the interior out and the floors need some major patching. Only thing I couldn't find was if all camaro and firebirds with the lt1's had the same wiring harnesses with same pin out numbers. I see most of the pinouts on here refer to the camaro's are the firebird harnesses the same as Camaro's?

There's a lot of lt1 swap threads on hear that will answer all of your questions. Driveshaft length is the same. Might be an inch different But they fit. Good call on the donor. It will save a lot of cash down the road. Plus you can part out the body and make most of your money Back.

Every bit of that drivetrain is bolt in except you'll need a t56 crossmember and u may need to cut your shifter hole bigger im unsure I started from an auto.. The search feature will work wonders for u on tgo

I had a 5 sepped prior to my swap and yeah I had to cut about 2 inches off the back of the shifter hole
