The TurboMu11et LQ4 S480 Build
Thought I'd show you guys how to stuff one of these massive turbo's in the engine bay without cutting out the core support. Trust me, it fits (snug)
The radiator is a griffin core 31x16, core support is stock, uncut. The turbo has about 1" on each side (radiator to water pump)
1" setback plates, stock engine mounts.

One guy made 770 RWHP with a 4.8, spinning 7700. Just ARP bolts and a small cam.

Very nice, I want to turbo something, just not easy with the tight fit in our cars. Keep up the good work.

Did some clocking of the turbo and found its final resting spot.
It should go about 3" lower without the board in there.

Also finishing up my fuel system minus one fitting. For whatever reason one fitting had no threads.

Actually it's not as bad as I had originally thought. There's enough room to tweak it if I need to.

The radiator is in there, right where the a/c condenser used to be. The manifolds are sch. 10 pipe

This is a massive turbo (weighs 45 lbs.) you should have no issue with a smaller unit. Rear mount battery and play around with the clocking of the turbo.

Thought I'd spice up the thread a little bit with some more pictures.
The car
Engine build
Also did the twin intank pump treatment. I had a walbro already so I strapped an aeromotive stealth 340 to it. The 340 will kick on with a hobbs switch.

Re: Iroc LQ4, S480 turbo build
I think it fits pretty decent if you cut the flange off and weld on a v band. The passenger side wasn't good at all. That's why I opted to build a set to make it symmetrical.

Nice! Im doing a 5.3 turbo, T56 swap on my 87 IROC. Can you post up some interior pics as well? Just curious what you got going on in there with the cage.

Re: Iroc LQ4, S480 turbo build
Keeping a drag seat in the passenger side? I have a set of drag seats with foam inserts. Im using one for driver and a stock fourth gen passenger seat. Well, thats the plan anyways lol. Have yet to procure a passenger seat. I'm working on getting the cage installed. What kind of power numbers are you shooting for? Weekend car?

Yep keeping the seat there and picking up another one for the driver side. Not really sure on power but I have 8 lb springs in the gates to start with. I'll try 15 lb springs If I can get it done on gas, after that I'll have to bump to E85 and more boost.

What sort of cam are you running? Intake? Those engines are great for boost. Are you on LS1tech as well?

Re: Iroc LQ4, S480 turbo build
It's a stock LQ4 with arp rod bolts, head studs, LS9 gaskets. Cam is a TU2 from speed inc. LS7 lifters, Texas speed pushrods and patriot gold extreme springs. I have an LS1 intake right now but I'm going with the Holley hi ram eventually. 80 lb. injectors, Holley rails w/ 8 an feed 6 return, Aeromotive regulator. One walbro 255 full time and a stealth 340 on a Hobbs switch when boosting.
Trans is a th400 w/ griner transbrake and I plan on a ptc converter. Ford 9" rear and and a 3.25 or 3.50 rear gear. I don't have a thread on tech but I am on there.

Less clutter, I have my oil pressure gauge hooked up to the top. It'll be fine.

Doing some planning for the hot side.. I'll be making an order here soon. I have to figure out what I need. It's a matter of ordering just enough bends because 304ss isn't cheap!
