Re: LS3 T56 swap in 91 Formula

The AC blows cold air, but I wanted to let the PCM control the compressor. This way it can disable the compressor at high RPM to prevent damage. The dash switch will only send a command to the PCM.

I also used a Grand Am high pressure sensor to allow the PCM to control the cooling fans instead of just having the fans run anytime the dash switch is enabled.

I still have to get the under dash wiring neatened up, but all is working.

I also had some issues with the original clutch master cylinder. I was not releasing cleanly. After a lot of wasted time, I bought an adjustable Tick master cylinder. Now, hopefully I can actually take it for a ride.

I just got the stereo & keyless entry, but I have had no time to install it. My car business has me swamped.

As for my car business, Lonnie's Performance Automotive, I specialize in EFI & forced induction. My main focus is dual fuel pump kits & custom fuel systems for high HP cars, but I get into a little bit of everything. Obviously the fuel system on this build was second nature.

I'm an engineer by day, dealing with instrumentation & control systems, so it sort of all comes together.

Re: LS3 T56 swap in 91 Formula

Well its been almost a year since the last update.

Added a lot of accessories: remote starter/alarm, Double DIN app radio, new speakers, tinted windows etc.

Been trying to get some seat time, but the weather isn't cooperating.

Tach is off, it shows just over 6000 when it hits the 6700 rev limiter. Hoping I can do some recalibration to get it closer. I have a shift light, but want to get this correct. Saw a lot of info on recalibrating the Camaro tach but not the Firebird. It seems on target at low-mid RPM but way off at the top end.

It's running well & I'm anxious to get it on a dyno for some numbers. Buries the 140 speedometer in 4th & is trapping about 122mph on a few test pulls so the HP seems to be decent.

Its amazing how the same set of 275/40's that it couldn't spin with the stock engine are now spinning all the way through 3rd.

Thanks everyone for all the advice through the last 2 years.
