Wrapped the vette up pretty much

Sold the vette and the rims so back to the GTA and still up in the air on wheel choice.
Have alot of work to do on the engine bay to seal up the holes and size up the vintage air setup.

I'm doin the ls9 afterall. Also including a full vette interior, brakes, and the 19/20s. Also, I'm gonna look into to making the steering rack, shocks and abs work for active handling and launch control but as I read it seems far fetched. Ram air I hood and poly window if it's not lame looking.
It's been talked about in the past and I'm basically re skinning the zr1 as a thirdgen. The first time the car got a full 99 Trans am swap so this should be an interesting adventure.

You are my hero to pull this off in your garage and build a badass car.I can brake being the easiest to adapt to the bird..have no clue how you would get trac control working..abs wouldnt be a major deal either.

Yah the GTA is going to get some surgery.
I won't need much for HVAC with the vintage setup. This will free me up to run the vette fuse box pretty much in the same spot so it will help with the wiring.
Im gonna do some design work to see if I can morph a vette spindle and a camaro spindle. Basically need a way to mount the hub on the spindle and maybe offset the shock mount a bit to fit the 19x10s. Could also do something on the reverse side of the hub flange like a ring gear, etc. Could be a sellable item to avoid use of spacers and bigger wheels The rear has speed sensor rings but need to find out if the pulses are compatible. Shocks I need to do some measuring when I get them but it might be possible to use them in a stock configuration by welding on a bracket to mount on to the spindle, depending on how the shaft is.
Steering rack we'll see too, I cant recall if those have a sensor in it as well. Should be able to make some sort of mounting off of the BMR k-member thou

i dont like the idea of moving the gas tank at all. thats just a safety issue to me.
for the brakes... and all.. if you can, take a note from NASCAR. if you notice how far inboard they mount the brakes, it may help you in getting things fit in the wheel well.
the steering rack will be the absolute hardest because of the geometry of the third gen steering. the 4th gen racks DO NOT work at all and the only options were some manual rack and some insanely expensive custom power rack that still needed work to work correctly.

you MAY not need to modify anything to get the bottom of the shock to mount up.
it looks like you have a chance that it could bolt right up to the top strut mounting hole. all youd need is a spacer of some sort..

I dont see any real bad frame damage either. What was wrong?

Picked up the parts today. Journey back starts.
I'm probably not gonna try abs or active suspension. The front shocks are half the diameter of the Koni shaft. The Konis probably handle better too. I worked something out for the parts I wanted.
The frame was destroyed on the pass side rail.

Used 2inch spacers,18x10.5 oe rear c5 z06 wheels. Had to "twist" the brake line so it would coil away from wheel. And has fenders rolled. That's it I believe

honestly, ive seen racers of all stripes do sketchy things. just something i personally wouldnt do i suppose. if it works for him and hasnt killed him then i cant criticize his use of it.
Ace, those same shocks are used on anything from the corvettes to cadillacs to the new gen on the zl1, ferraris, and heavy *** mercs. i think even the aventador uses them. they wouldve been fine on your car.

Was a long trip. Kudos to the folks @ autoworks in wisconsin, if anyones after vette parts hit them up for sure.
Unloaded the items from the trailer, mess of parts everywhere.
Need to fully clean out the garage and get started on the metal work.

Man that engine is crazy! I would def use different seats though. I have heard several people say the zr1 needs seats with more side support. Upper end sparco,bride,recaro,courbu come to mind

On the endevour to use the vette traction control which modules did you get from the donor ZR1? Not sure what can be done for an aftermarket flash on them but in a factory configuration you need the BCM and other modules to power up the PCM, EBCM and VSES module if equipped. Also badass project.

Bcm is a compliment part, I can start the car without a bcm if you disable vats.
I have all the modules I need including bcm and entire body harness thou I plan on using instead of the Isis wiring system. I'm not doin traction control or abs, main focus will be on the interior and other stylin pieces.
There was thoughts of reversing the door latches to have something that functions like the c6 but the latch is pretty big and would be lookin at reshapin the door entry

Not sure on a Y body, but on most GM vehicles the BCM or the EBCM is the gateway module. Meaning that all the other modules remain in an off/awake state until they recieve a B+ signal from the power mode master (PPM). Anyway he has the BCM and other modules so it's just going to be a matter of making everything work together with a revised calibration so they don't just throw U codes all day long.
Ace if you have a hard time getting the schematics you need shoot me a PM I'm a dealertech and all that stuff is available on our online server.

Bcm is a compliment part, I can start the car without a bcm if you disable vats.
I have all the modules I need including bcm and entire body harness thou I plan on using instead of the Isis wiring system. I'm not doin traction control or abs, main focus will be on the interior and other stylin pieces.
There was thoughts of reversing the door latches to have something that functions like the c6 but the latch is pretty big and would be lookin at reshapin the door entry
Got it Rollin to move it to my buddies garage to help with the fab portion. The 4th gen rear might prove to be too wide to handle the offset so might need a 3rd gen sized rear and small spacers.
On the list is
smooth firewall and cover holes
New mount for c6 wiper motor
Mount for pedals
Mount for center hump
Mount for vintage air hvac
Flatten floor for seats
Fuel tank mounts
Mounts for seat belts

Yes I have the brakes, just in boxes.
It was a hard choice but I've decided to turf the GTA project and end my ties with thirgens. I traded a truck for a new GMC regular cab sierra and going to tear it apart with 30 miles on it and do that up the ls9instead.
Will be selling all the parts off, hoping to sell the gta as a roller but doubtful and it will probably be parted .

if this was just an engine swap it would be bad ***.. but trying to put the damn Corvette Dash and seats and basically converting the whole car, what a nightmare.. this is like 1-3 yrs in the making..

I might end up keeping it.. I just can't decide on a practical way to build it up and i need space. I could almost return it to stock slowly from parts from the 92 camaro but that would be a tedious event. Then theres a 4.8 turbo build with the stuff im pullin off the truck. Yah its probably for the best if it just goes lol..

Ha, I knew this wouldn't happen. Should just do the LS7 swap in the thirdgen, sell it for profit or race it, do your LS9 truck and get it in GM High Tech mag.
