I see that the k-member needs to be notched for oil pan clearance with an ls motor does anyone happen to know how big of a notch is nessesary

i didnt have to notch mine but i am using set 1" back plates. although i did have to grind a little bit away from the edges of the pan

I cut mine through the middle of that hole punched in the top of the K-member. As for how wide, I don't recall off hand - just measure the width of the pan and make sure it'll be that wide after you weld the plate back in.

i used the setback plates as well, but i wanted a little bit more breathing room on my setup.

i had mine cut back just far enough to still leave the mounting hole for the brake line hold down (maybe an inch or so?). i believe the width was about 11" as well, but its been a while

u guys using the ls1 stock f body pan with that notch (that's what I have and plan to use)???
