Re: Questions about lt1 swap

Should be alright. Note that the water pumps are slightly different as well - the heater hoses are the only thing different. Its just personal preference on which water pump to use, either one should work.

Re: Questions about lt1 swap

I have a 95 9C1 Caprice cop car LT1/ aka. Impala SS engine. I had the problem of my a/c comp. located bottom right, requiring notching of the k member. I just swapped my stock acc. bracket out for a 96 Corvette LT1 accessory mounting bracket. Was like $60 something. relocated the a/c to top left/ alternator next to it....and solved all my problems. I'd highly reccommend this if you have a 94-96 Caprice/Impala SS LT1.....Just giving you my advice....good luck w/ your swap man...keep me updated....later.

For the 97 f-body AC lines - No, they will not work. No lines from any factory LT1 car will work. To get the 4th gen f-body compressor to work in its stock location custom lines have to be made.

The LT1 a/c pressure sensor. No, will not work. If you want the LT1 computer to control a/c then need to use the older A/C pressure sensor that came off of late 80s, early 90s 4 cylinder cars. More info here:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/lt...h-gen-ltx.html (Using 4th Gen LTX/LSX A/C High Pressure sensor?)
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/lt...r-control.html (using lt1 computer to control aftermarket a/c)

For the LT1 AC Compressor and bolt on the back of the LT1 compressor to hold on the a/c line - YES, unless you want to use Corvette accessories - then you would need a corvette compressor.

Its no big deal to "notch" the k-member. You don't even have to notch it(cut out metal and weld), you can simply beat the area in with a big 20 oz hammer until you have enough clearance.

On this website I've seen 3 ways of getting a/c to work in the LT1:

Option 1. - LT1 4th gen F-body compressor in stock location with custom lines made. More info: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/lt...-body-lt1.html (A/C for F-Body LT1 Swap- Finally!)

Option 2. LT1 4th Gen f-body compressor using Bower's Bracket. Very expensive and can use 92 V6 lines with an adapter to get it to work. I don't recommend this anymore:

Option 3. Corvette LT1 accessories. Would have to have custom lines made and need other corvette parts. More info
