Carlisle PA, carshow and swap.........
Has anyone been to the Carlisle swap/car show? I'm thinking of making the 20hr trip and I'm just wondering what I can expect to find in the way of 3rdgen parts etc??

Re: Carlisle PA, carshow and swap.........
I've been to the spring and fall events. I've bought aftermarket parts (rims,tires,hood,tools,etc.). Just got my third gen in the summer of 2009 and haven't been since. I don't know how many parts for third gens you will find, but there will defintely be something. There is a lot of everthing there and it's a sight to see. A twenty hour ride is a really long ride. I'm only an hour and a half away. Get there an hour early to park close it's a madhouse. I heard, from a Carlisle vendor, that Hershey Pa. has a good swap meet that is bigger but I've never been there.

I've been there a few times for chevy meets/GM nationals and parts swap meets and i rarely see thirdgen parts other than a few used TPI setups and hoods, maybe some wheels.
Its a decent show but wouldnt expect to find much in parts unless your looking for basic engine stuff for general sbc.

Ive been there tons and tons of times...
Honestly, its been better. The amount of "good" stuff has been dwindling. I didnt find much at all for thirdgens when I was there this past spring. But in past years, Ive found complete interiors for $10, body panels for a few bucks, etc etc.
One of the keys is to get there early on Saturday. Saturday is the big day usually. If you go on a sunday, some of the people have already packed up and gone home. Also..if it rains, some people wont even bother putting their stuff out.
On the other hand, if you wait til sunday, sometimes you can get the best deals. Even on stuff like tires/wheels. Those guys, if the weekend was slow, would LOVE to go home with some last minute money. You can talk them down sometimes. Also the regular folks...you can wheel and deal with them.
Is it worth making the 20 hr drive for something specific? I dont think so. If you want to make the drive just for the experience of going..and for some DARN good sausage sandwichs? Then its a pretty cool event to check out.
The sausage sandwiches and looknig at all the junk are pretty much the only reasons I go these days haha.

If I go, it will be more fo the experience of it all. It's near impossible to find anything at all let alone in half decent shape up here. Anythign I want that's in good shape comes from the US. (USPS loves me lol) .. I'll be going with 3 other diehard Mustang/Ford lovers so between them and me we'll have lots to look for.
Anything around the area worth detouring for? Speedshops etc?
Thanks for the input guys
