I went with what I have and was easy for me to do. I did the intake and cover myself so it wasnt a big deal. I didnt have to integrate or buy a LT1 harness. etc...

What kind of power are you expecting to lay down with that tpi?
Josh swap is looking good. Have you done anything to the engine?

whatever it makes it makes.
Its a tiny cam in a 383. So well see. LE3 equivalent heads Comp cam XFI 23x/23x @ .050 .502/.510 , should be 12psi with these pulleys. Im ordering a smaller SC pulley for more boost.
alot of the novi guys are running mid 9's on 12.5 psi. with similar builds.
According to paxton the n2000 will flow enough for 980hp

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
Only drawback to going the route that TPI383 did was you still have to burn chips to tune, batch fire injectors vs sequential fire and the tuning capabilities are limited.
I have over 150k on the opti in the car, only trick is keep the vent lines hooked up and it should be fine.

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
i've gone through 5 opti's all of them vented, i think its more about luck than keeping them vented and all 5 of those was in about 65k mile duration

I can still use my auto prom (aup1,etc...) and emulate and make changes on the fly with tunerpro RT. So batch fire vs sequential. personal preff. is what it comes down to.
If anything Id still ditch the opti and go with a delaQ or the 24x setup. http://www.eficonnection.com/24x/default.htm
what I have will get me in the mid 9's So Im fine with it. and cheaper then even replacing 1 opti.

All ive done to mine is a mini rebuild.ive torn the heads off and cleaned them til i could eat off of them then replaced head gaskets, intake gaskets oil pump and oil pan gasket and added an air foil to my TB...so it'll be a stocker LT with a full exhaust.i got dynomax headers,a hollowed cat and a hooker 3inch catback.we'll see how that goes then ill upgrade intake and TB when its running good.im def pumped for the spring!

well im gonna use my stock 3.27's for now and i have a T5 hooked up til it blows then a t56 will replace it...how about some opinions on the LT4 hot cam kit? ive heard from some people not to do it unless i just want agravation.

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
i've used my lt4 hotcam from day 1 (about 5 years ago) and i love it. it gives a nice idle, makes decent power, and i don't feel like i sacrificed much in terms of drivability. with shorty headers my car put down 331whp and 327wtq (with 300 lbft of torque as early as 2k rpm) on a mail order tune from bryan at pcmforless

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
thats pretty sick, did you replace cam bearings when you installed the cam?

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
i did not, what i did do was use a new timing set (provided with the kit) and roller rockers (also part of the hotcam kit). it is also recommended to replace the water pump gear drive when you replace the timing set

Klortho,
What flare type (single, double flare) did you put on the end of the steel line where the high pressure hose is attached? I attached a picture w/ a red arrow pointing to it.

they aren't very upclose and detailed, but here's mine. I still need to polish the intake, alternator and alternator bracket. I need to replace the rigged stock 4th gen air intake duct too.

thank you! I'm pretty sure the ones with the alternator on the drivers side are using brackets and accessories (or the whole LT1 assembly) from a corvette.

Nice engine bays. But I'm gonna say a done up tpi on top looks better, but you can't match the ltx's performance. Nice job guys!

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
I used my old V6 hardlines, cut the ends off of them and use a single flare with my flaring tool on it, then used clamps made for high pressure FI lines to hold it in place.

i do agree a TPI looks better as the intake looks b a d a s s but the amount of power coming even from a stock LT1 blows the TPI out of the water

I used the stock power steering cooler, had it cut and then had ends fitted onto them for hoses.

That is what am doing with mine. I picked up the fuel line pieces from a V6 in the local yard. I also bought fuel injection hose from Advance Auto. Really expensive hose.

JeremyNYR or BMFIrocz: do you guys both have your power steering pump on the passangers side like mine?

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
yes my p/s pump is on the passengers side,im pretty sure the only lt1 that came with the p/s pump on the drivers side was the corvette lt1.

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
-Using a alternator from a 92 4.3V6 S10, mounted low, down on the driver's side with a custom-made bracket. Sorry I can't find pics of it.
-All the wires either go through the hole for the a/c wires near the heater core or under the driver's side wheel well. PCM located in the interior. Notice there is no longer the bulkhead connector near the brake booster, it is shaved.
-A/C and LT1 vette fuel rail covers not fully installed yet.

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
yes, i have the f-body setup with the pump on the passenger side. I'm guessing the vette can't fit an f-body setup due to hood clearance. now that I think about it though, I'm not sure why the f-body didn't utilize the same accessory setup as the vette since the vette setup must've been developed first.

Re: Lets see your third gen LT1 engine bays!
I tried a new power steering line (high pressure side) from a 4th gen and it looked impossible to get it to work because it was way too short. Maybe O'Reilly's ordered me the wrong part? I used a PS line from a '95 caprice LT1 and bent it to fit. However, I plan on buying a custom braided stainless steel line because even the bent-to-fit line is still somewhat a pain to work with. I route my MSD plugwires inbetween a gap thats between the bracket and the block, just so happens that the PS line is right there in the way too. And always have a little bit of a challenge getting the threads started on that fitting for the bent line.

Go to NAPA or a hydraulic company and have them make a hose for you. AN fittings and hose wont support the 1200+ psi a PS high pressure line will see

On my lt1 swap I used teflon lined braided hose and the 16mm and 14mm to An adapter fitting for the ps box. AN ftting in my PS pump, etc....
