Using the 700r4 with an ls1

I've been doing some homework on this and came across a very informative link:

http://jeepinpete.com/engine_trans_a...ans_adapt1.htm

The link goes into detail about which flywheel, spacer, and bolts to use. I'm still researching what to do about wiring, but at least I'll be able to get parts to bolt the two up. Thought I'd share

Re: Using the 700r4 with an ls1

I reused the stock 700 in my LS1 swapped camaro, it bolted right up, except for the middle pass. side bellhousing bolt, which you can leave out but that is also the bolt that holds the dipstick tube, so you would have to get a Lokar aftermarket one that would attach to the back of the pass. side head. You can get the aftermarket kickdown cable for the 700 to LS1 swap from here http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=225. Then you will need the spacer for the 700 to LS1 swap, which can be found at http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperflist.htm, this is a spacer that takes up the empty space in between the converter hub and the flywheel, lastly is the proper spacing between the flywheel and the converter pads, I think you can get a aftermarket converter from GM or somewhere else with the right pad height, but you can use a stock 700 converter all you need to do is egg out the flyweel bolt holes just a hair to make sure they line up and then add 2 of the same thinkness washers in between the converter pads and the flywheel, this will make sure that the converter does not pull out of the pump to far, you only want about a 1/4" of pull from the tranny. Other then that my trans is fully built to handle the LS1(which I recommand) and I'm using a little bit higher of a stall (B29H/S converter). This is all that I have done, so here's some more information for people to look at.
