LT1 Corvette accessory drive

I'm in the process of buying up parts for my LT1 swap, and thought I would post on here that the Corvette accessory bracket is not too expensive from General Motors. I just bought one from my local dealership for $61.58 (part # 12550052). And I am fairly sure I didnt even get a great discount. This was much cheaper than I thought it would be. Granted, I still have to gather up all the accessories and belt idler (Gates # 38015 $15.00) and tensioner assembly (GM #10227507 $32.37) but I am sure I can come in way under the $1000 I am told Street and Performance charges. I would like to hear from anyone out there that has went through this same process and hear how they did money wise.

We did the S&P Setup for $1,000 since it came with everything.
Everything was new except for the alternator, I believe.

I got everything used from a 94' Vette. Cost me $775 shipped. From WWW.corvettesalvage.com this is one of the only places I have found that was willing to pull off just what I needed a lot of places want to sell the whole motor as a package. Had I known about the S&P set up I might have gone that way just to get new stuff. But nothing some powercoat and chrome didn't cure. I had the alternator chromed, rebuilt and amps upgraded for another $200 so it is like new when ever I get it. I have never seen it but the electric shop that did it for me was so proud of it they have it on display.

Anyway I got.... Brackets, pullies, AC pump with all the lines, ac condensor, power steering pump, power steering pump resovor, alternator, all the nuts and bolts and back brace brackets.

Course then the *&$#&* chromer lost some bolts...

This is the setup from S&P,

I still think $1000 is way too much for this.

Agreed ....$1,000 is a lot, $775 is a lot also. This set up is very popular for street rod prodjects so these guys know they can ask for a lot. Might be better off buying all the parts through GMParts direct and getting ahold of aftermearket hardware. I heard that the A/C pump alone will run you almost half the price.... kinda sad when the accesoirs run you almost as much as the engine.

You know what is funny is that I tried in vain to find allen head bolts to replace my stock on'es to match another bolt kit I bought and ended up just getting the stock bolts chromed and they have them on there kit.....

I might just get that one bracket for my Alternator since that may be the only accessory that will be driven.
I am still undecided though.

I work at a parts store so I can get my stuff at cost. AC compressor is $332. And I am going to use the alternator from my wrecked 94 Z28 donor. I hope to have everything for $550 to $650.

As far as I can tell, it would just be the alternator. The power steering pump looks different, and I know for a fact the AC won't. Completely different mounting on the compressor.

I've been thinking about it. I've got the lines for the powersteering already hooked up.
If I went manual, then I wouldn't have to have that accessory bracket on the car at all.

Re: LT1 Corvette accessory drive

I know im bringing an old one back but I cannot find the S&P corvette accessory kit as described above. ANyone have a link to where I can see this kit or know of something else similar?

I am going with a procharged LT1 setup in my 92 camaro and am trying to convert to corvette LT1 accessories so I can run the corvette LT1 procharger kit because the camaro LT1 kit mounts to blower low on the driver side which hits the steering gear but the vette blower is mounted high on the passenger side. I am not running A/C so that should help keep things clear and clean.

THanks

Re: LT1 Corvette accessory drive

Im not sure if this setup is going to work so for now I am not ready to buy anything until I know it is going to work... do you have photos of the brackets though? It would be good to see how I can lay things out.

Re: LT1 Corvette accessory drive

I have the LT1 Corvette bracket with bolts, tensioner, alternator, ac compressor, idler, ps pump with lines and overflow tank and misc other stuff. I can sell it complete or split it up. I can make a smoking deal for someone local. I also have a complete long block (oil pan to tb) out of a 95 Corvette with 60K miles.
