Int panel jute padding

If you've seen my other posts I'm getting my 89 IROC back on the road after sitting 15 years. Needless it say the time has not gone well and mice had a hayday in my car. One thing is they tore out almost all the sound padding on the interior panels.

So how to replace it? I was not able to find a nice kit. I did find a piece for the back panel but nothing for the sides. I couldn't remember what all was covered so I probably overdid it. I did find a kit and it lacked a description of what it was it did look like it was for the padding. Turn out to be for the body sound deading so it had jute and the heavy black backing. Well crap. So I peeled the jute off the tar backing and cut it to fit as best as I could.

Glue..strong stuff

www.stockinteriors.com has what they call "mass backing," which is essentially the jute that goes under the carpet and behind panels. I don't know if they sell it by the yard, but they might. Check and see.

I did, but was hoping to find something precut.

Nice job on the improvised repairs. When I put my interior back together, I will probably follow your ideas to restore the sound deadening on my panels.
