Map Light Bulb Part #

This picture is from a convertible with the single map light switch and a tiny light that remains on all the time (HVAC light). Does anybody know the part number for this tiny bulb?

We sell the led version. Any 194 size bulb will work.

I’ve been looking at the bulbs on the Screaming Chicken site and had a question. I bought 194 LED bulbs for the mirror, but once in, the bulbs work fine, but they somehow keep the dome light wired to permanently on. Without the mirror lights installed, the dome light works normally with the light dimmer switch.

I’ve tried re-wiring the mirror light switches but all combinations seem to result in the same. Before I buy more bulbs from Screaming Chicken, I’d like to know that bulbs is the issue.

LED bulbs take very little power to come on, so the stock bulb may also be getting a small amount of power but not enough to turn on. The mirror lights and dome light have constant power going to them and then the door pin switch supplies the ground to the circuit which makes them light up. I would check your door pins to make sure they are not corroded, rusty or not working correctly which would prevent a good contact. Or the circuit might be getting a ground else where in the wiring. The ground part of the circuit would cause the lights to stay on.

All the led bulbs we sell have a 3 year warranty so if there is a problem with a bulb you can get a replacement. From what your describing I don't believe it would be a bulb problem. Any led bulb may have the same results your having now.

I realize this post is a few months old, but that tiny bulb is actually a 74, or a T74. Just in case someone is looking for this answer in the future.

The bulb that OP is refering to isn't a 194, as Gunstar mentioned its a 74 bulb which is also used for the an automatic gear selector and the HVAC controls.

Re: Map Light Bulb Part #

We have been installing the 194 bulbs in the lights on the bottom of the mirror for several years, they fit with no issues and work well. I've had them in my 1991 Camaro for 3-4 years with no issues, still work as well as the day I put them in. I can post some pics when I have some time.

There’s definitely a bunch of inconsistencies between the Camaros and Firebirds, minor things that you would think that would exactly the same across the board to make assembly more efficient and or cheaper.

Especially on the interior, very few parts are the same. I think the drivetrain/suspension is the only area where they share the majority of parts. Plus in the late 80s they didn't make that many which makes parts hard to find.
