Unknown part dashboard

Hi,
i replaced my heater core in my 86 Camaro irons. In order to do that, I removed my dash pad. Subsequently, I am installing everything and have no clue where did I remove this part on picture. Does anyone know what is it and/ if is a critical part that I should re- installed?

thank you so much, and appreciate an help or suggestions.

Re: Unknown part dashboard

Looks like air vent for air to enter the dash vent and into cabin. It's been a long time since I've had a dash apart but I think it goes on top just under dash pad. Run on sentence

Re: Unknown part dashboard

Goes under the dash pad, supplies air to the small side vent.

Re: Unknown part dashboard

Re-Install it.

Obviously; you will not have any air flow from that VENT if it's not but back in place. However; If you don't install it you should expect poor Air flow from all the other vents when the VENT option is selected. Not installing it will also heat - or cool - the dash housing, dash harness, and dash pad in a non-expected way and that (heat ) could really cause problems. ( brittle dash housing plastic, cracked dash pad, etc,.... ) You could block off air port on the dash housing HVAC Box to avoid these problems if you decide not to install it.
