Plastic carpet glue removal, is it necessary
If I am dyeing my interior plastic and re-carpeting the pieces as well, do I really need to spend the time scraping the old glue off or am I just being lazy????

The factory obviously didn't care what it looks like under the carpet....
Odorless Mineral Spirits might dissolve that stuff. Not the sissy water based, Sierra Club approved ****-water, but regular old odorless mineral spirits. Works on about 75% of the gunk found inside a thirdgen. Mild enough it shouldn't hurt most things, but test it first someplace where a flaw won't be visible.

I would not go through the process of re carpeting without at least trying to remove it, at the very least with some "Goo Gone".
Be sure to soak it for a few minutes.

I used my heat gun on low and peeled it off gradually. It took most of it off ad then I just spray dyed around where the carpet was going to cover.
