Tools needed for steering wheel removal

Geez, guys. Has someone deleted all the steering wheel threads, or are they no longer called "steering wheels"?

I'm looking for info about the required tools to remove my 1990 airbag steering wheel.

I know how to remove an air bag, but what tools do I need to pull the steering wheel?
I've seen universal tool sets around the internet, yet have absolutely no idea what size items I need.

Trying to get to my turn signal switch assembly (not the stalk/lever) and replace the sucker, because there's a loose contact or defective wire.

Please point me to a tutorial or update me on the specs. Thanks!

This tool set works flawlessly. The lock plate compressor is needed for replacing upper bearings, horn contacts and turn signal switches

Re: Tools needed for steering wheel removal

Thanks. That looks neat. Are those threads metric, imperial or both?

The link goes to a VigLink page.

Nevermind. I had to copy and paste it in order for it to work. Clicking the link provided brings me to some VigLink page that says Sorry, no content

Re: Tools needed for steering wheel removal

Nice. I found a set which looks similar on a German website, which would make this more affordable to me.
I'll do some research on both of them. I appreciate the input. Thanks!

Re: Tools needed for steering wheel removal

That set looks good. You want a steering wheel puller that can have the two bolts pretty close to the center. The Harbor Freight generic steering wheel puller has too much metal in the middle and makes it so you can't thread the bolts in straight, so stay away from that one. I have a lock plate compressor/puller like the one pictured and it works well. Makes the job nice and easy.

Re: Tools needed for steering wheel removal

So that's what that thing is for. Similar sets kept coming up whenever I looked for the steering wheel set and I was wondering about that.
