Hey guys and gals, I'm kinda stumped here and wondering if anyone can help me.
I have the square horn (I know, ugly) and am wondering how the heck the little pin/ spring/ cam lock thingy go in behind the horn button.

My horn button broke off (the plastic tabs on the back gave up) and when it came off the pin and spring came flying out, so I never got to see how they were supposed to be in the wheel.

from what i remember the spring goes on the metal part then the plastic lock and finally into the horn ring

So does that mean the metal part (I take it you mean the pin) goes in head first? Like this picture? ----- This is wrong, see the final post and watch the video.

I'd say your picture is correct.

The wire for the round horn button is similar. The pin makes electrical contact. The spring pushes the metal pin. The nub on the plastic collar locks the parts into the wheel.

Alright, thanks guys. I haven't had a horn in... i dunno years. Figured it'd be nice to have it working again. Protect the investment eh?

Sorry guys, one more question. I take it that the metal arm that come down from the contact points (that the horn button presses on) needs to touch that metal pin?
I'm sorry I'm just having a mental block here or something, but I'm guessing that the way this horn works is; the horn button is pressed which makes the metal.... lines(?) make contact, which then sends the grounding contact down through the metal arm which touches the pin. Is that correct?
The cam lock thing holds the spring in place and under slight pressure and the spring holds the pin down to keep pressure on whatever it is making contact with....
I'm just trying to understand how this works....

So I installed it the way we had talked about and.... it still doesn't work, started doing some more research and found this on youtube.
Guess I'll try that...
Yep that fixed it, what a stupid design this steering wheel/ horn is.
In case this video is removed or whatever, it's basically in this order:
Spring in first,
Pin in next, with the head of the pin on the spring and the rest of the pin sticking out towards the drivers seat,
Cam lock thingy going over top of the pin and locking into the steering wheel.
I know it looks wrong but so do 20" rims on a third gen, who am I to argue. :P
