Found the heart of the Iroc!
Tore apart the cluster to replace a speedo cable and noticed this odd shaped cutout!
There is no reason to have this cutout shaped the way it is!
Anyone else ever noticed this?

Re: Found the heart of the Iroc!
When you re-install the cluster - if you haven't already - note that the malee connectors can be removed from the housing. Not removed from the wires, but it can be pulled out and turned. Make sure it is seated the same way it is shown as in your photo. This way, the female portion - on the gauge cluster - can receive the male portion once you apply gentle pressure. Do that first, then do the speedometer connection (which is a bitch).

Re: Found the heart of the Iroc!
I just took my cluster out of my 89 iroc for some repairs and I have the heart shape cut out. It is a factory thing. If you look at the back of the cluster, you will see some light bulb sockets in the same area that would hit the dash panel if the cut out wasn't there. Its for clearance for the light bulb sockets.
