Re: 87 bottom seat cushion swap
On the left side of the passenger side of the seat there is a "pivit" bolt and on the other side there is a hinge bolted to the seat. In order to swap the passenger side seat bottom to the drivers side you need to remove the pivit bolt clip from the left side of the seat frame and install it on the right side of the frame. That way once you re-install the pivit bolt it's got something to screw into. The easiest way to access that clip ( much like a large body panel clip ) without making more holes in the fabric is to partially remove the seat fabric, move the clip to the other side of the frame, and re-install the fabric.
The only real disadvantage to this is that the right side of the drivers seat will still have the 2 holes in it where the hinge used to be installed when the seat bottom was originally on the pass side. But - at least it's just about never visible as that part of the seat would be mostly hidden by the console.
